Bought this for my hair which was dry and shedding pretty bad (I'm black by the way). Stress and the coming winter was talking a toll on my hair and I also have REALLY dry scalp. Jojoba oil is a natural plant oil. It is created from the liquid wax of the seed of the jojoba plant, a shrub which is native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico.

Of all natural oils, jojoba is the most compatible with the skin because it is very similar in its properties to the skin's own sebum (the protective, oily secretion of the skin's sebaceous glands). This allows it to penetrate much deeper into the skin than other natural oils can and makes it less likely to clog pores and create blackheads and acne. Jojoba also, like sebum, has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Native Americans used jojoba to heal wounds and burns. Jojoba is so gentle, it can be used as a moisturizer and lubricant for the most sensitive skin of the body, in the genital area (even better than natural coconut oil, which does a fairly decent job at that task as well).

When I discovered jojoba oil, I was looking for a carrier oil for prescription, natural, compounded progesterone. I had previously purchased over-the-counter progesterone creams, but they have a host of unnecessary ingredients in them and are expensive, and I did not trust the unknown ingredients in the creams used by the compounding pharmacist, who can provide natural progesterone as either a powder-filled capsule or a cream. The ingredients in the standard creams they use are never listed, and it is far too likely they will use as a preservative parabens, which are potentially carcinogenic xenoestrogens.

Prior to using jojoba oil, I had tried commercially prepared progesterone cream using vitamin E oil as a carrier oil, sold by Dr. Ray Peat, and I also tried making my own mix with vitamin E oil. Unfortunately, I developed an allergic reaction over time to the vitamin E oil, which my dermatologist tells me is not uncommon. I then tried a commercial blend using coconut oil, which I was not allergic to, but it was expensive. I tried making my own mix with coconut oil at home, but because coconut oil solidifies at room temperature, I found it hard to effectively mix the progesterone powder into it. Ultimately I settled on jojoba oil because it stays liquid, it is hypoallergenic, it penetrates the skin really well, and powdered progesterone mixes in it very well. The trick is this, though: I break apart the progesterone capsule and dump the powder in a small glass bowl. I pour about a tablespoon of jojoba over it and make sure the progesterone powder is completely covered. Then I let it set a few minutes. This helps the progesterone percolate fully into the oil, and dissolve completely when I thoroughly mix it into the oil with a clean, dry finger before applying it to clean, dry, skin. (See Dr. John Lee's books for dosage information).

Not everyone will be proof of the claim that jojoba oil does not cause skin breakouts. I am one of the unlucky ones whose skin breaks out from using it on my face. However, the advantages of applying progesterone cream to the thin skin of the face and neck, in my opinion, far outweigh the risk of breakouts, and I worked out an excellent solution that prevents those breakouts. I rub a tiny bit of calcium bentonite clay into the jojoba-oil-covered areas on my face prone to breakouts. The clay immediately dissolves and blends into the oil, and it doesn't interfere with the desired positive effects of anything I put in the jojoba oil, including progesterone. It merely combats any inflammation of the skin cells potentially blocked by the oil which could lead to breakouts.

Speaking of clay, jojoba oil makes a terrific carrier oil for clay to make a healing, clay poultice, working far better than the standard practice of blending clay with water. When clay is mixed with water into a paste, the clay almost immediately begins drying out as the water evaporates, and within minutes of application to the skin begins to flake off. Not only do you lose the healing power of the clay, you have a big mess of gritty, clay flakes to clean up, even if you put a bandage over the water-clay poultice to hold it in place. (You still will want to use a bandage over a jojoba-clay poultice, however, because though it won't make flakes, it will rub off your skin onto your clothing or bedding.) When you use jojoba oil to mix with the clay, the clay dissolves into the oil and stays moistly in place where you put it on your skin, and if you apply a thin enough layer, it simply dissolves into the skin. Or you can apply the clay directly to a light film of jojoba on your skin, as described above.

A clay-jojoba poultice is good for any of the innumerable skin issues that clay can heal, including insect bites, eczema, psoriasis, poison ivy, chicken pox, measles, and almost any other skin condition imaginable. A clay-jojoba poultice also heals hemorrhoids, boils and blisters. By using jojoba instead of water, you amplify the ability of the clay to stop itching and inflammation for any itchy skin condition. It's a great, safe alternative to steroids.

When I recently had oral surgery, I also made a point of rubbing a clay-jojoba poultice over my swollen jaw, and it helped greatly to lower the swelling.

I am a 17 year old girl who has been dealing with acne since the age of 9. Within the past two years or so I've been becoming interested in natural beauty and personal care products. I read in a book that jojoba oil is a good moisturizer for acne-prone skin, and I was interested. To tell you the truth, it worked! I was excited to receive these as the scent sounded wonderful. I agree with the reviews above, the candles were very small in comparison to the other votive candles I have. What really shocked me was how fast they burned up, in less than a hour they were gone and I was looking at the metal form the wick was in. I couldn't believe it. My husband has really bad feet. They're always dry and cracky, yet somehow constantly sweating and getting athlete's foot. Tea Tree Oil Foot Spray Needed a foot deodorizer badly; got this; pleasantly surprised so far. My biggest gripe has little to do with the individual product: I'm bothered by the high cost of toiletries, and when you throw in the postage, ouch. Ive been using this spray for about 2 years. I keep it in my car actually and I will spray my feet after working all day (take off my socks and spray my feet) its a great way to calm the stress in your feet and refresh them on the way home. I also use it before and after yoga (practice bare foot) and its amazing.

So far I've really liked all the new chapter vitamins. I have no complaints. And I like that the fish oil comes from wild salmon and nothing farm raised. It recommends to take 2 twice a day. I admit, I'm a big baby when it comes to taking medication. I hate trying to swallow large pills, even if they are gel caps. This is my second choice item of Burts Bees Baby Bath treatment, however they have stopped making my first choice a powder that you added to the bath that made it very good for dry skin.

This is a cleansing product can be used instead of any extra soap or body wash (although my tom-boy daughter usually needs more washing than that.

This is very hypo-allergenic for my child every child is different so every parent must go cautiously on every product until they have tested it on their child. My daughter is sensitive to some lotions / soaps but has no problem at all with this.

This is bubbly if you add it to the bath under the faucet as the water is entering the bathtub. If you add it later then you really have to stimulate the water to get it bubbly but if you add it at the beginning then it works great and provides a full 20 minutes at least of bubbly fun. Maybe some kids bathe for longer but that's enough for us and then we usually end up having to rinse the soap suds off at the end bit irritating initially but now part of our routine and my daughter loves it.

This product is the best! My son has had skin reactions to other so called "non-allergenic" or "sensitive skin" baby products but Burt's Bees Bubble Bath has not affected his skin. We also use Burt's Bees baby wash which is a wonderful product! I love the smell and if you look at the ingredients list, there are no harmful or harsh chemicals in it; it's all natural. I have read other baby product's lists and have found harmful chemicals, that are known to cause cancer or other health issues. I really can't believe that big companies are putting known harmful chemicals into baby products; you really have to be aware of what you are using!

We bought Mr. Bubble Original Bubble Bath, 16 Ounces for our son awhile back and I remember reading the instructions that read: "Excessive use or prolonged exposure may cause irritation to skin and urinary tract. I like the scent of most BB products, so it's no surprise that I like this one, too. It does produce a decent quantity of bubbles--if you use a LOT more than the recommended ~3 capfuls. I haven't found any baby bath bubbles that do better in that department, though, and at least they last awhile. My 14-month-old daughter loves them, and they don't seem to both her digestive system (she tends to get a couple of mouthfuls) or her skin, although her skin is not particularly sensitive anyway.

I bought this for our shared bathroom, and it's pretty good. It gets rid of grime reasonably well and doesn't dry out the hands. This was the most reasonable scent out of the line Burt's offers, but I still don't like the smell. There is a slight lingering odor.

I was contemplating which fish oil to take and if I should go the "natural" route or the more concentrated route. I decided to email the company and was pleasantly surprised when I received such an excellent, informative response! Even better information than I was able to research on google so I felt I should share it with everyone so everyone can benefit. The email is below.

"Hello,

Thanks for your continued interest in Pure Alaska Omega(tm) cold pressed wild Alaska salmon oil (WASO) and our clinical strength 85% omega-3 Pollock oil.

Our salmon oil is very different from our new, highly refined "clinical strength" Pollock oil (HIPPO). Both oils are really great and it is not possible to say one is better than the other. The right choice for you really depends on your needs, goals, and health care providers recommendations. Let me explain a little about the similarities and differences between these two oils so you can make a better decision regarding the two options.

There are three ways you can get fish oil in supplements:

Ethyl Esters (EE) the majority of oils on the shelves at retail are in this form. Natural triglycerides are broken down through refining to free fatty acids and glycerol by breaking the ester bond which attached the three fatty acid molecules to the glycerol backbone (tri glycerides).

Reformed Triglycerides (rTG ) these are EE's that are enzymatically or chemically reattached to a glycerol molecule so as to put them back into a "Natural Triglyceride Form". This process is expensive so most fish oil refiners prefer to stop at the EE form for softgel encapsulation. A few Omega-3's claim to be in the rTG from. There is no scientific evidence that rTG's are more bioavailable than the EE form and certainly not than the nTG form. Some fish oil markets would like to claim otherwise.

Naturally Formed Triglycerides (nTG); this is the form that the Omega-3 fatty acids take when you consume them in your diet, like by eating oily fish. This is the natural form that the oils come in, not a chemically reconstructed form from purified EE's.

Pure Alaska Omega salmon oil is one of the only nTG oils in the marketplace. It is also the only cold pressed and extra-virgin fish oil. Our 85% clinical strength Alaskan Omega-3 Pollock oil is the highest concentration EE available without prescription. We cover both ends of the spectrum with our two oils, but not the middle, which is contested by thousands of other fish oil marketing companies all drawing their oils from pretty much the same well of south American sardine and anchovy heat rendered oils.

In order to explain the difference between our two oils, we have to talk about the processes used to produce them. The salmon oil is extracted at low temp, in a very gentle manner. This oil remains in its true naturally formed triglyceride state (the same as you would get from eating fresh salmon). It remains in its naturally balanced triglyceride state and also still contains the oil soluble compounds found naturally in free swimming salmon, like Vitamin A, D, E, and K as well as Astaxanthin and phospholipids which I call the companion compounds.

On the other hand, our clinical strength oil is heat rendered and then distilled to produce a highly concentrated omega-3 oil in an ethyl ester form. In order to get the higher levels of EPA and DHA in the softgels, the oil must be refined as an ethyl ester. However, the natural oil soluble companion compounds are lost/removed in the rendering and refining processes.

With that in mind, the two oils have some similarities:

Both Pure Alaska Omega(tm) oils are:

a. made in USA (by us)

b. Harvested in the cold clean waters off Alaska, USA

c. Certified sustainable

d. 100% traceable

The major differences are:

WASO is extracted in a low temp food grade unique process. HIPPO oil is a heat rendered oil.

WASO is not in any way further refined after low temp extraction (a truly natural oil). HIPPO oil is distilled and refined extensively in order to increase the level of the OMEGA-3's from 30% to 85%. The OMEGA-3 fatty acid levels in WASO are those found naturally in the salmon, about 30%.

WASO remains in its naturally formed triglyceride state. HIPPO oil has been esterified and is sold in an ethyl ester form.

WASO oil is in a "20 oblong" softgel with 1,000mg of oil in it. HIPPO oil, because it is so highly concentrated, is in a 10 oblong softgel with 625 mg of oil.

Each WASO softgel contains 300mg of Omega-3's (30%). Each Hippo softgel contains 530mg of Omega-3 (85%).

So the real difference is that WASO is still in a naturally formed triglyceride state and in a natural balance whereas the HIPPO oil is a highly refined and distilled oil ethyl ester which is not in a natural Omega-3 balance.

When asked which is better, I like to put it this way: if your doctor is telling you that you are at serious risk for CVD, and need to elevate your Omega-3 levels rapidly by taking say 1,000 mg 3,000mg EPA+DHA/day, then you might consider taking the higher potency ethyl ester oil, at least for a while. You would have to take 4-12 of the natural salmon oils to hit those elevated omega-3 levels.

On the other hand, if you are just looking to maintain your good health and supplement your diet which is deficient in Omega-3's, then I recommend that you take our natural Alaska Salmon oil. Personally, I take 4 of my salmon oil softgels each day. I prefer a natural unrefined product, but that is a personal preference, just like choosing whole wheat bread instead of refined and enriched bleached white flour. Also, I love the taste of our oil. My wife, takes 6 salmon oil softgels per day but adds a high potency Pollock oil softgel each evening as well. She has slightly more elevated cholesterol than I do. It works well for her and it doesn't hurt to take both.

Finally there is an omega 3 FA capsule,in a clinically useful strength and a swallowable size. Most omega 3 capsules are either too large to swallow comfortably or if they are smaller, they don't contain enough omega 3s to be clinically useful in lowering triglycerides, for example.

I had been looking for the best omega-3 product and after extensive searching I realized the one that I had bought at Costco was the one. This product comes from a sustainable fishery in Alaska. It is as pure and as close to getting oil from the fish itself as possible. The 500mg is all EPA and DHA without the other oils. So two a day gives me the 1000mg a day that I want. There is no after taste.

Since using this my lipid profile has never been better.

You know you'd like to rid your home of toxic cleaning substances, but you don't really know how to start. Well, here's your answer. This set contains a mixing bottle, two spray bottles, two juicing tops (for juicing lemons for your home made sprays), a microfiber cloth, and a small booklet. The booklet is the best part, in my opinion. It has several recipes for various cleaning solutions, from everyday cleaner with vinegar and water, to a mild abrasive with baking soda, plus info on cleaning pet stains/odors, etc. Could you find all these more natural cleaning recipes elsewhere? Yes. But I like having them all together, and the bottles are pretty nice as well. I haven't tried the juicing tops yet (I just added some lemon juice), but I hope they work well.

I think the best use of this set would be as a gift, since you could put together like items by just going to the grocery store if you didn't care about looks. I bought it for myself, as I have been wanting to change the products I use for cleaning, and use more eco-friendly and kid-friendly products. My only complaint is the price. I would think it'd be more fairly priced around $15.

These bottles are nice looking and great for mixing your own natural cleaners but one of the bottles spray mechanism stopped working within a month. I used their recommended recipe so it was not from mixing something that would clog up the sprayer. The one in the bathroom is still working fine but the Kitchen one which was used a lot more is broken. Amazon was great and gave me a full refund and did not make me return the other bottles. Maybe I just got a bad bottle.

We purchased these bottles to make some home cleansers around the house. I wasn't specifically looking for a product that was designed to do this, but was looking for bottles less than 32oz size (but larger than the inexpensive standard small water bottles) and these fit the bill. I was a little worried about the seam mid-bottle, but so far have not seen any leaks.

Kit includes: LIttle absorbent cloth, 2 citrus juicer inserts, 2 pulp filters for the straws and some labels. There is also a booklet included on how to make some common cleansers.

Pros: Nice clear bottles, spray nozzle does stream and spray and has an off switch. The size and weight feel nice in your hand and this has a better look than some of the commercial bottles. The kit is well thought out with the pulp filters.

Cons: The juicer attachment is going to be a pain to store, I am keeping them in the bottles for now as I dont want to lose them and so far that seems ok. Also the labels are sort of lame, just paper labels that if you spill anything on they will likely bleed/ get soggy.

Overall: I would buy these again and may even purchase a 2nd set.

I used this product EXACTLY as they recommended in their included booklet. I made the general house cleaner solution with orange and vinegar. Used it a few times and it worked well. I let the bottle sit in my cabinet for a day and when I went to use it just now, the spray mechanism had stopped altogether. I've tried to tinker with it but it just won't budge. I absolutely LOVE the idea behind this product but can't recommend it at this time...

I bought this set locally and was very disappointed. Very small bits of pulp from lemon got through the built in strainer and got stuck in the straw that goes up to the sprayer. It needed either a better strainer/filter, or an attachment on the bottom of the straw that prevents small pulp from getting through. My bottles are both so clogged I can't use them anymore and recycled them. I'd recommend just getting a good hand held juicer to extract from the lemon and some cheap bottles instead.

The candles do smell nice unlighted. So, I assume they'll smell nice lighted as well. In my case, I haven't lit any of the candles yet. Recently, I bought two items a Coleman Lantern (running on 8 D-cell batteries) and these candles. In my area during the winter, power failures are common. And my plan is to use the lantern at first when there's a power failure but only until I can light one candle in my living room, one candle in my bedroom, and one candle in my bathroom. So, I bought the candles to serve a purpose. Smelling nice is just a plus.

I am a huge fan of all the steamer fragrances by Angel Face, but the Eucalyptus is probably my favorite. It's fresh and herbal and fills my whole bathroom with beautiful , sweet smelling steam. I don't take super hot showers so one of these usually lasts long enough that my husband gets to enjoy the second half when he showers right after me. I know this is one of his favorites as well and I've gotten one of our best friends completely addicted. I never fail to gift her a six-pack for her b-day and Christmas.
