The Grapefruit Geranium is my favorite shampoo. The smell is of an actual grapefruit and not synthetic scent. It lathers well and cleans thoroughly. I have thick, straight hair and wash everyday. This shampoo does not strip my hair but rather leaves it bouncy with some added shine. I recently changed from sulfate based shampoos to more natural products. Avalon shampoos are not as natural as some of the other green brands as it contains coco sulfate. But there's a tradeoff involved as I've found some natural shampoos to not produce the desired results... A progress compared to the salon brands I've been using in the past. This shampoo cleans my hair well. It has a good lather and it smells just like grapefruit, really nice. It is thick, so you only need a little of it each time. It doesn't have sulfates or parabens, which I'm happy about.I've long enjoyed the Rosemary and Peppermint versions of Avalon, using them as both shampoo and body wash (never saw a need to get a separate product). But in wanting to try something a little less herbal/medicinal, I tried this variety. It's become my favorite: uplifting, energizing, makes me and the entire bathroom smell clean, fresh, and lively. A definite mood brightener. You can't help but close your eyes and smile at the scent (unless you hate citrus!) Smells great to the extent I want to pour it in my mouth. Very citrusy. But that's also true of the texture I feel like I'm just pouring juice on my hair. It doesn't lather up well, so I use more than I would if it was a normal shampoo. Even so, I still don't feel like my hair is clean when I use it. So, after I use this one up, I won't buy it again. I can't say how the other shampoos are. I'm trying to go organic so I might try a different Avalon shampoo.
