First, it's delicious. It's a "flax oil" I will actually take, rather than feel guilty about not taking.

But Barlean's is being a bit sneaky to call this "flax oil", because it's ALMOST HALF WATER. (It has water as the #2 ingredient.) And, in fact, if you closely inspect the label, they actually call it a "flax oil supplement." In the fine print, they don't say it's flax oil; they only say it's "made with" flax oil.

But real flax oil has 120 calories/tablespoon. This stuff has only 65 calories/tablespoon. And if you do the math, to cut the calories by almost half you have to remove almost half of the flax oil!

And if you compare (as an earlier reviewer did) the Omega 3 ratios between real flax oil and this product, the truth comes out:

Why is there so much less than half the omega 3 in this product than in regular flax oil? Because water contains no omega 3s!

So, it's really tasty, but be warned: if this is your "flax oil", you're only getting about half as much of it as you think you are. (And you're only getting about 8 1/2 ounces of flax oil in each 16 oz. bottle.) So it's about twice as expensive as real flax oil.

BUT -you might not care about that. And, having thought it over, I will probably keep ordering this product anyway. Why? Well, I've had successive bottles of flax oil in my fridge for years and I virtually never take it. I know that it's good for me, but I hate it so much that I never take it long enough that I form a habit.

So even though, once you do the math, this is an unbelievably expensive way to get the "active ingredient" of flax oil -and even though I don't like how Barlean's is hiding that it's really just a pre-mixed smoothie -I'll probably stick with it, because it's a "flax oil" I will actually take.

I had been using a very good lemon fish oil that had a great taste, but was still oily on the tongue, so I mixed it in smoothies. I can take this right from the bottle! I don't care for fish at all and eat very little meat, so this vegan style was great for me. And although it lacks the vitamin content of fish oil and the laxative effect, it has More Omega ! Very tasty and I will try another flavor nest time.
