Having used fish oil as a dietary supplement for over 15 years, the thought of something better was hard to visualize. That is until I was told that my cholesterol was 241. I said, "How can that be? I take Omega3 fish oil?" "Well, maybe you aren't taking enough." was the reply from my cardiologist as she wrote out a prescription for the 'prescription strength' fish oil supplement. After six months, nothing had changed. Then, I read an article on Krill oil and how it is the source for the Omega3 fatty acids (FA) you get from fish. The Krill are basically a plankton type crustacean that fish eat. The concentration of Omega3 FA actually gets diluted in the fish due to body mass. The article also showed that while fish oil will decrease cholesterol on average of 4-6%, the Krill oil will reduce cholesterol 38-42%. Just so you know I am not making this up: (Bunea R, El Farrah K, Deutsch L.Evaluation of the effects of Neptune Krill Oil on the clinical course of hyperlipidemia. Altern Med Rev. (2004) 9.4: 420-428). So, I started taking Krill oil instead of fish oil. The results were that in 6 months my cholesterol dropped to 142. I did not change anything else (exercise, diet) in my daily routine. Now, my cardiologist is telling her patients about the advantage of Krill oil. Oh, why TwinLabs? TwinLabs has always held to the standard of laboratories that manufacture prescription medications so their products have consistency in effectiveness, quality and potency. Even with the acquisition by ISI, they still produce dependable quality that is rarely seen in the supplement industry. If I am going to trust my heart health to a supplement such as Cardio Krill, I am going to make sure it is the best.

Everyone has been singing the praises of Omega 3 and fish oil. This is another way to supplement that provides Omega 3 benefits and a little variety as well. It has a bit fishier smell when taking, but no bad aftertaste or burping (like happens with cod liver oil sometimes). The fact that it is one step further down the food chain is an interesting concept not to mention that the availability of krill is much higher than fish (kinda like grass vs beef :)).Twinlabs has a good reputation as a dependable lab.

I hate fish oil. HATE. That said, krill works for me, and this is a great source at a great price. I have no fish burp problem with krill, and see a visible difference in mood and sleep patterns when I'm taking it.Read Best Reviews of Twinlabs Cardio Krill Oil, 60 Softgels Here
I Seldom write a review on amazon, but I felt compelled to do so for this product. Krill oil has been a great aid to lowering my cholesterol, its tasteless to me and it goes down easy (and stays down, unlike fish oil for me). However, The shipments I receive from this supplier when I open them, they have a strong smell of fish. Its likely that in the shipping process over regular mail the heat is causing the pills to stench up. The local pharmacy has these exact same ones, without any smell! I asked the pharmacist and he agreed that its likely the heat is affecting these pills. overall great price, great product, just cant stand the smell of heated krill oil!I've been taking krill supplements for well over a year. I decided to try TwinLabs Cardio Krill Oil seeing it was on sale and it just doesn't compare to other krill oil I have had..same dosage etc. Also in most stores to buy otc it's almost $40! Amazon had a great price but it's not worth it even at a discount. The capsules smell and my hands need to be washed afterwards because they stink from touching the capsules. I question the quality because I don't feel that sense of "lift" & well being that I did with other krill oil supplements. I will now only purchase Source Naturals Krill Oil, it is an excellent quality product, small capsule and zero smell, plus they list the content of astaxanthin which is found in krill oil and not even mentioned on the Twin Labs Cardio Krill. Don't waste your money, or if you did try Source Naturals Arctic Krill, it's amazing!!
