I have been "shopping" diffusers/nebulizers for about a year. Some had color changing lights, others used water and one was capable of downloading your MP3's! Sounds pretty nifty but I was searching for a QUALITY essential oil diffuser. All the other bells and whistles seemed to compromise the integrity of the units ACTUAL purpose dispersing essential oils for aromatherapy. Most of the diffusers I viewed seemed like glorified humidifiers (in function, operation and aesthetics).

In my opinion essential oils are NATURAL and should not be in contact with plastics, etc.

This nebulizer/diffuser does it's job!

I can't hear it (even when its turned up all the way) and the wood and glass components are simply elegant.

With so many to choose from it's nice to have made such a rewarding purchase for a change. I'll be purchasing another.

I highly recommend this nebulizer/diffuser to anyone shopping around. You won't be disappointed.

Further note: I purchased on Wednesday and had it by Friday.

This unit is simple, elegant, functional. I use this with Young Living oils.

It is much less expensive than the units YL offers and a much better design in my opinion.

I love that it is entirely made of a single chunk of real wood, and has an elegant one-piece blown-glass element.

All you do is add 10-20 drops of an essential oil no water or carrier oils needed and turn it on.

It's dead-easy to clean with a swish of alcohol when switching oil variety.

It runs at a variety of speeds, with a convenient automatic timer that cycles the unit off and on.

I love it.

I do wish they would sell the replacement glass elements on Amazon.

If I had an extra one would like to keep one for lavender and then one that I switch out with a variety of oils.

These diffusers are very well made units and are well worth the price but a few things

the consumer should know upfront before making a purchase.

The units run basically hands free and do have a very low hum sound. So, if you are a bit sensitive to minor sounds at night while sleeping it may be a good idea to purchase the units for use while not sleeping or just before going to bed.

Aside from that because water is "not" necessary just a little bit of essential oil is sufficient to fill an entire room. Plus, your stock of essential oils will last much longer this way too!

Purchased this item a couple weeks ago. I was happy it came a lot faster then I thought it would, which is a huge plus since I was so excited about it. When I got the diffuser it was simple to put together(I did right away), it covers a good sized area for such a small item! I have not been bothered by the hum it makes. I am sad to say that yesterday it started turning off about a minute into the cycle and I am not sure why. I have emailed the company to see if they have any suggestions. I really do not want to have to go through the hassle of returning it for a new one! I will keep my fingers crossed for a speedy answer and come back to update once this problem has been fixed. This was to expensive of an item to stop working!

UPDATE****As I stated in my comment I returned the base and they received it Friday the 16 and I received it back today the 19. I was so excited to get it back only to find it has been chipped in a couple places, and once I got it up and running it is now at least 3 times louder then originally was. Hoping that it will actually last this time even with the horrid sound now coming from it

UPDATE****Emailed the company about the sound and the chips. It was definitely damage done from usps. The company is being great and sending me a whole new base and even letting me keep the one I have until I get the new one. Even with all these issues I still love look and efficiency of the diffuser. The company is definitely doing everything to make me happy!

I'm a beginner to essential oils/aromatherapy. Despite being a bit of an investment, I chose this for my first diffuser and after about 3 weeks of use I am exceedingly happy with that decision. I think it's an elegant and beautiful device to look at (bonus 'cool' points that it looks like something from a mad scientist's labaratory, even moreso when in operation), and it works very well. I have stationed it in my master bedroom, and it covers that area (and somewhat the adjacent bathroom) capably within a few minutes at 24%-33% "power" (which is how I typically run it). Mine operates with a pleasantly low level of noise; being an air pump, it is audible in a quiet room (e.g. bedtime), but it's not at all obnoxious even running "wide open" it's not in any way intolerable. I've been running it nightly as I go to bed and noise has not been any issue at all.

It is built well, but be aware the bulb and cap are real glass and presumably quite fragile. A drop on a hard floor and you'd be shopping for replacement parts; definitely could not trust it to rest in a place where small hands or pets could knock it over. Glass is the best choice for a diffuser, however, as it does not react to the oils.

Unlike the vapor-type diffusers, this one takes pure essential oil only (no water or carrier oil at all) and diffuses it nebulizer-style using only air pressure. If you ran it continuously, it probably could run through oil fairly quickly, as any nebulizer-type diffuser can. Since it dispenses pure oil into the air, however, I think you get greater effect from less oil and less run time. I can put 5 drops of oil in the bulb and still have a bit of oil left after a 30 minute 'on' session (again, at 25%-30% "power"). So IMHO I don't think it consumes oil excessively at all, but as with all things, it's efficiency is partially in how aggressively you choose to use it.

To get a better understanding of the device before purchasing, I spent time on the manufacturer's website and watched his cleaning/repair videos on YouTube something I highly recommend everyone do, as it will give you a much clearer picture of how and why some people have problems with these devices. As with all things, pieces and parts can fail, but it's easy to see how one could have "problems" with this unit because they didn't bother to read the instructions for use and proper maintenance/troubleshooting.

Apparently early versions of this unit came with an air pump that contained a self-timer to keep it from overheating (as any pump will do if run indefinitely). It sounds as if the timer had some issues, so the manufacturer has replaced the early unit with a new one containing a timer-less air pump, leaving it up to the user to moderate run times (as clearly said in the instructions). Mine is one of the newer timerless units, so what I did and works great is paired my diffuser with a 30-minute countdown timer Belkin Conserve Socket F7C009q Energy-Saving Outlet that plugs into my wall outlet and severs power to the unit after 30 minutes have elapsed. I am very pleased with this method, as it allows plenty of time for the diffuser to do its job, but prevents it from running long enough to damage itself (or use up my oil!). Highly recommend users of this diffuser consider this method or similar.
