If you are looking for a product that helps heal and moisturize dry skin with shea butter or mainly natural, plant-based ingredients, this is not it. The main ingredients are petrolatum, glycerol and alcohol. Shea butter and a host of other plant ingredients are added, but they are not the main active ingredients. It seems like they're only added in scant quantities so this company can call it a shea butter cream legally, and bolster their "Village Naturals" title without actually spending the money to make natural products.

Like a lot of people, I am a little bit sensitive to petroleum products, especially inorganic glycerol (which is a glycerin made of petroleum products). If there are some of these things in a cream, or if a product is even half made of such things, I'm OK. But if that's all there is, they dry my skin out after a few days. And that's just what this product did -it actually left my skin dryer than it was before. Worse, when I rubbed a little bit on my arms for two days, they became inflamed and broke out in a light rash. It cleared up in less than a day after I stopped using the cream, but it seems pretty clear to me that this product is basically just petroleum jelly whipped with synthetic glycerin and alcohol to look like a lotion.

It was dumb of me to think I could get a shea butter-based product for $5, but dishonest of Village Naturals to say that's what this is.

My boyfriend bought this and the matching foot repair balm as a surprise. The products are unbelievable for the price. He gave me a foot massage with the foot scrub and then finished with the foot repair balm. My feet were SOOOOOO soft and smooth and the product smells great. You can't get better for the price. Now when we give each other love rubs (on our feet, or course) we exclusively use these products.

This lotion not only relieves dry skin on my feet, but it also invigorates my feet and calves. When I have been standing on my feet for long periods of time, I feel revived by applying this lotion to my feet and calves. I can no longer find this lotion locally and can not find a comparable substitute so I will have to order on line and pay shipping.

Let me tell you, I have the driest feet in the world, I swear, and this is one lotion, or foot balm as it's called, that keeps my feet nice. I use it all over my body, my husband uses it on his bald head to keep it from itching. It smells wonderful also, not a perfume smell, just clean , which is why my husband will use it. Even if for just an after shower, over all lotion, I would recommend it.

The jury is out on whether parabens are actually worth worrying about, but this foot balm does contain methylparaben and propylparaben, if you care about that stuff. I received it as a gift, and probably won't use it; but the return shipping costs are more than the product.

The foot balm does have a pleasing melony smell. I received the accompanying Village Naturals Foot Soak also, and the soak, which doesn't contain any controversial ingredients, smells nice and works well.
