I read about it in Vogue and was skeptical because of the $$. Here's the key: leave it on a good five minutes at least, as long as you reasonably can while you shave your legs or whatever. Then rinse for 2 full minutes with COLD water. It closes the hair shaft and my hair came out smoother and shinier after the blowdry. I have fine, graying hair, colored blonde w/hilights. It gets frizzy, limp and dull in a hurry. This shampoo makes it soft and full again, but the cold water rinse gives the best results. I get best results by following with Terax Crema conditioner, better than the Philip B conditioners, and I've tried nearly all of them. The 12 oz. tub lasted 6 months w/ 2 to 3 times a week useage.

I bought the shampoo after reading rave reviews for it in a couple of magazines. Please, please save your hard earned $140 because this shampoo does not work. I have slightly frizzy and coarse hair, and it's still slightly frizzy and coarse after using this shampoo five times. I even left the shampoo on for half an hour once because I thought that might do the trick but NOTHING happened. I've seen better results with $14 shampoos and feel like I have been majorly conned. Please don't make the same mistake I made.

My sister has tried every single expensive shampoo on earth. I think the most she spent before was $50 (that's astronomical in my eyes). She slipped me the Lucky magazine article on this shampoo and I thought the price was sheer lunacy. Still, I bought it for her as a present and both of us tried it together. My sister's hair: fine, curly hair, color treated and with keratin treatment, between shoulder and armpit length. Her result: The best hair she's ever had air-dried with no other products on it. She absolutely loved it and said that having tried so many other expensive shampoos, she puts her seal of approval on this as the best of the bunch by far. On me: Long hair to midback, wavy but with straight roots. Not super frizzy but not sleek, either. My result: It took only a small quarter sized ball and I lathered it extra hard on my hands with a bit of water, then put the lather into my hair starting at the roots and I combed it all the way through my hair. I waited about 5 minutes or so and rinsed with cold water. My hair was so smooth that I didn't even think I needed to put conditioner on it. I let it air dry and I gotta say, I was in no way impressed with the results of this air dry. It was nice and it smelled good, but it was nothing out of the ordinary and DEFINITELY nothing I would spend $100 on. About four days later (I wash my hair every 3-4 days), I tried it again and this time I blow dried my hair quickly because I had to run out of the house in a hurry. WOW. what a difference. 1. My hair smelled like HEAVEN. 2. My hair was SO SOFT, and felt so fluffy. It was just beyond clean, every strand revitalized. 3. I had bounce and body, I looked like I was wearing bumpits (LOL, not my usual look, but it looked so healthy and shiny, I went with it). 3. Even a week later and 2 washes later with my regular shampoo, my hair was so soft and still smelled delicious (I don't even like musky scents like this one usually, but something about this one is so decadent).

Now, I have good hair to begin with, I'm not going to lie, I'm very lucky. I really don't NEED a miracle shampoo like this, since I can get very similar results with $7 shampoo with panthenol in it, for example. But the fact that it made it stay so soft even after going back to my regular shampoo and knowing how little of it I'll actually need to use each time I wash my hair, where even if I wash it with this shampoo as a once a week treatment, this jar will last me at LEAST 6 months. And the money it will save on conditioner, b/c you barely have to use any! I currently spend about $15 per month on shampoo and conditioner anyhow. I don't think I could justify the $140, but getting it for $100 is totally worth it to me. I rationalize it as "Am I willing to work a full day in order to buy this shampoo?" Hell yes, so I just bought myself a jar, lol.

Look, nothing is going to work for everyone. I think the stuff is great, but heres what I did first: if you look at the list on the Philip B website itself it lists where in your state are the places that carry the stuff. You can call them and ask them to obtain a sample at no charge. That way you can try it out and see if you like it or not before you spend the money on the full thing. The sample won me over, but I was definitely not buying without getting an idea first.

So saw this in Lucky Magazine this month and thought the price was insanity for shampoo! But for some reason still tagged it as a "maybe" and thought about my "maybe" turning to a "yes" everyday as I lost more and more hair in the shower. (Thyroid issues) I read a couple more favorable reviews and took the plunge. Wow, Wow, WOW!!! Huge thumbs up for me! The scent is very rich and decadent. Not really what I would say is my preference for scents. I prefer a more clean, fruitier scent but i still liked it and how different it was. Wasn't too difficult to lather as I had read before, it does have a honey type of consistency but lathers fine after a minute. While rinsing it didn't feel too different and used my normal color conditioner from Aveda; only a bit less then I normally would. Started to blow dry it out and only used a tiny bit of styling spray product on my bangs. Usually i need mousse/pomade/spray volumizer, hairspray to get my hair to have any type of style and it still falls flat after 10 mins on most days. Well, immediately it was managable beyond belief and styled anywhich way i commanded, with shine and fullness! It was such little effort with amazing results. I still think it's quite a lot of money to pay for shampoo... i will TRY to only use on the special days and remember what my grandmother used to say "You get what you pay for".
