My title basically says it all for this Macadamia Nut Oil, which I bought for browning meats, hoping to infuse an unusually rich tang to the same ole fry. I was surprised that the flavor was slightly sweet, whereas I had expected (and received) a rich nutty enhancement to the meat's browning. Once I was aware of the blend of sweet & nutty (like moi?) I was able to adapt my other seasonings to balance or subdue the sweet and enhance the salty nut side.

I had been concerned that a high quality nut oil might not have qualities which would withstand the high heats I prefer for searing meat, so I was thrilled to read the label and discover the capacity there to be beyond my expectations, to the good. In my testing, I found that the Macadamia Nut Oil could handle my "pouring on the coal" more easily than my favorite olive oils.

And the luxurious aroma which rises up from a hot pan as I pour in this oil, then quickly slide in a piece of steak (or fish, chicken, pork, raw veggies, etc.) ... it's hard to describe the mouth-watering hit of balsamic, tropical, nutty-sweet paradise dancing up from the pan. In the steam I swear I saw palm trees and ... Trinidad ... and I broke into one of my favorite songs from times past, "Rum & Coca Cola," by the Andrews Sisters.

What a gift to have unusual, exotic oils like this easily available from Amazon vendors.

I know that this is a very weird review for a cooking oil....................but I conditioned my hair with this product. I know that there are other hair products that include macadamia oil in it, but I did not find one that is as pure as this product. I took a gamble with this product because it is organic. I am more than glad that I did. I am an young African American with very thick coarse hair, especially when I am nearing time for my relaxer. After letting this oil sit on my hair for two hours, allowing its moisturizing qualities take place under a plastic cap, I started to shampoo my hair and notice how much softer and moister my hair was. It was texture changing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be buying more in the future for my hair care. It may be cooking oil, but it works wonders for dry hair!

I bought this oil after reading a description of its benefits in Tim Ferris' 4-Hour Body. I couldn't find it in my local stores, so online seems to be the only way to get it. Tim said it tastes buttery, but I don't get that. It tastes like Macadamia nuts (duh). That said, it does taste better than olive oil for frying eggs and other high-temp frying. I'd like to find it in a larger size, at a cost-per-ounce saving.

I intend to buy it again when it's getting close to empty; which, at the rate I'm using it, will be pretty soon.

I use this oil almost everyday to fry eggs in a cast iron pan. It always comes out delicious, this oil makes the eggs taste great and works well with the cast iron pan so that the eggs don't stick. I can't believe how much better than olive oil this stuff tastes!
