Some reviewers have commented on the "fishy" smell and taste of this product. It's not a "fishy" smell. It's an algae smell. Fish smell like algae, not the other way around. I don't see any way around that dilemma! I've been taking this pill since my pregnancy started in May and yes, if I take a big strong whiff, it smells of the sea and that is no fun with morning sickness but it's pretty easy to avoid if I just pop it in my mouth. And, in the first, oh 20 seconds after swallowing, I usually get a mild algae taste in my mouth but it subsides pretty quickly. I think this is a great product. And, again, as a pregnant woman, I am incredibly sensitive to smells and tastes and this product really doesn't bother me.

I decided to try the Deva brand of omega-3 because my usual brand of vegan omega-3 supplements was having supply issues. Deva omega-3 has a "fishy" (algae) smell/taste that I find mildly unpleasant. It isn't bad enough to stop taking it, and I plan on finishing the bottle, but then I will go back to taking Amerifit Nutrition Ovega-3 500 mg, which has no smell at all and contains more DHA-EPA. Ovega-3, which is also derived from algae, has 320mg DHA and 130mg EPA, whereas the Deva brand contains 120-140mg DHA and 60-80 mg EPA, according to the label.

I am happy to see more companies offering a vegan omega-3 supplement, but I do prefer Ovega-3.

I take these with a small handful of other supplements in the morning. Is there supposed to be a fishy taste? Hell, when I was kid in New England I had to take a TB of min-flavored cod liver oil in the a.m. to ward off whatever. Methinks some you folks who whine about the supposed 'fishy' taste are a little too precious.
