Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program These gels come in an easy to swallow size. This jar contains a twenty day supply. I think they're just fine. They leave no peculiar aftertaste, and they smell authentically natural. The dark oils are made from a combination of essential herbs and extractions from 100% Wild Alaskan Salmon!

My joints haven't seized up or anything, so I can only rate these at face value for presentation and palatability, along with the knowledge that fish oils are an essential part of nutrition, and the faith that these supplements provide a nice source of it based on their nutritional content information, which I provide below.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I already take Glucosamine MSM and Chondroitin supplements to minimize a tendency toward stiff and achy joints, especially when I'm exercising a lot. So I thought, fish oil, too? Well, why not? I'm pretty sure fish oil is good for you in any number of ways, but after taking a full course of these capsules (60 count), I can't say I noticed that much difference in my joints. Now, when I skip Glucosamine tablets for more than a day or two -THAT I notice. I doubt I'd go to the trouble of ordering more of these but perhaps I'm being short-sighted. One thing for sure: They aren't going to hurt.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program It's not my idea to take fish oil supplements. My family keeps saying how good they are for you and how they help you move better and not hurt so much and are good for your brain, yada yada. I'm getting up in years (60 of 'em) and have done a good bit of damage to bones and joints over time. Does this supplement help? I don't have a clue. But at least I can take it.

I've tried 3 or 4 other fish oil supplements--one was even a very small 'krill' something or other that was supposed to do wonders and not taste like fish. Me, I prefer to take my fish oil IN fish, but the first time I tried to take fish oil capsules I developed an aversion for salmon. I still don't like it much. With fish oil capsules, it felt like every breath I took in or out was fishy. My mouth couldn't shake the taste of rubber and fish (the capsules were thick and rubbery). I gave it up for a lost cause. Meantime my sister, who is 13 years older than me and very spry, keeps telling me how much her fish oil supplements help. I asked her how she could tolerate the taste. "Oh, you get used to it. You're exaggerating!" and words to that effect. She claims her sense of smell is going. Maybe her sense of taste is suffering too.

I tried capsules with thinner skins, capsules 'easier to swallow' (hah!) even fish oil flavored with lemon (not bad at all, but a bit messy to take. Left me with a lemon oil mouth and throat and a greasy tongue.) Last time I was home my sister was complaining she had had to stop her fish oil while she's taking some new heart med or something. In consequence her joints are aching. When I saw this supplement I figured I'd give fish oil ONE more try. Now I can take it, I'll have to finish the whole bottle and take it long enough to see if it does any good for my bones. My sister said she began to notice a difference after 3 months on her capsules. At least my breath doesn't seem fishy. Mayvbe I can kiss somone besides the cat.

The key point is, apparently you have to have a hefty dose of oil. The capsules either have to be big, or you take a lot of capsules. I like those little krill capsules, but there was a lot of 'plastic' capsule taste, and later, the inevitable fishy taste--not as strong as some, but fishy. These capsules are big, but tapered. They go down ok. They don't taste funny, and best of all they don't come back to haunt you later. Are they the fountain of youth? I'll keep you posted.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Wholemega Flex has good ingredients with solid science behind the individual components, but the results, at least in my house, were rather tepid. Read on for the break-down:

First, the ingredients. Rosehips are naturally high in complete Vitamin C (as opposed to just synthetic ascorbic acid) and Vitamin C is an important factor in collagen production. Turmeric, a favorite New Chapter ingredient, has a long history of use for inflammatory conditions (there's an interesting animal study in the November 2006 issue of "Arthritis and Rheumatism", if you want to check out just one example) and is present here in a 100 mg dose for 3 softgels. The base is NC's signature unfiltered Wild Alaskan salmon oil, controversial because it is truly unfiltered. The ultra-processing used by most salmon oil manufacturers ensures a product free from containments, but it also decimates the levels of naturally-occurring nutrients, in particular delicate Omega 7. The Omega 7 content (helpful for healing soft tissues) is preserved in New Chapter's Wholemega products. If you are comfortable consuming actual Wild Alaskan Salmon you should be comfortable with this.

The problem for me was efficacy. There just wasn't a real noticeable difference. Honestly, for acute joint/pain issues I think Zyflamend is still by far the best New Chapter product. The effect of Zyflamend is more dramatic and much quicker, and quick dramatic relief is what most people are looking for. At a relatively high price per dose, Wholemega Flex is a bit of a luxury. If you want to add it to your daily regimen, there's no real downside, but if it's a choice between Zyflamend or this, go with Zyflamend.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program ...so I hope that they have a whole lot of Wholemega in them. Because I was not overall impressed.

I ordered these because I've had some good luck in getting vitamin E (and especially fish oil) to regulate menstrual cycles. To that goal, they've been a wash. The good thing is that they don't result in any "fishy hiccups" (as the drs like to call them) and they are relatively easy to take (for their size), considering what is apparently an enteric coating that minimizes the taste and the subsequent distaste for fish that many people have cited in their own reviews.

I've also had a problem with taking fish pills and having a follow-up of disinterest in fish. Since fish is a favorite food in my household, this is undesirable. But so is the irregularity thing. I thought that these would be a nice compromise, but I am not seeing the regularity that I'd hoped for.

As far as joint health goes, these are combined with a good old-fashioned (or new-fangled, depending upon your POV) glucosamine-chondroitin cocktail, so...no distinct improvements or set-backs there.

In general, not impressed, doesn't seem a great value, unless you're specifically looking for fish oil that causes no aftertaste. In which case, these MIGHT be worth the price. Your milage may vary, of course.
