I just tried this today. Did not buy on amazon, but liked it so much thought I'd do a review. I'm surprised to see so many have had mixed results. I got this to touch up my roots, and even out my color (I had tried to lighten dyed dark brown hair with an auburn color and it didn't come out the same color in places). This stuff evened it all out. It is a little darker than the box, but its pretty close. And I loved the foam. I have very long thick hair, so when doing all of my hair someone else has to help me dye it and I need three boxes. But for this mostly root job I decided to buy only one box and see if I could do it myself. It was much easier to apply than regular dye, the foam was easier to spread...like shampoo, and it worked great. As for drying my hair, I feel like darker brown dyes always dry my hair out more. This was no exception. But after using a lot of the conditioner (don't be stingy...I know you want it to last a month but go crazy! It helps!) it's smooth and soft. So I like it and will definitely try foam again. I even think it gives you slightly more product this way and I may be able to get away with just two boxes to do all my hair, instead of three! Hope this helped. I say try it. It was great.

I actually had a GREAT experience with this product (I didn't buy it on amazon before, but I'm now looking to as we all know that everything is cheaper on amazon...).

I had a mishap with some red dye a few months before, and after a whole bottle of Palmolive dish soap, I was down to an auburn-y/orange-y color... My hair is naturally a 5/Medium Brown, so I figured I'd give this dye a try. I was surprised that it only took 25 minutes to process (all other dyes I've used take at least 45), and happy to find it in a foam formula.

When you dye your hair, always read instructions! I'm sure had I not and let this sit on my head for 45 minutes, my hair would probably have fallen out... or at least been bone dry. As it is, my hair is fine and curly, and often gets dried, dead ends...

But after using this dye is it definitely shinier, more nourished, and much easier to deal with.

As far as the color: the other reviewer was correct, at first, it was DARK brown, not medium (I had bought medium specifically so I could not worry about my roots showing in a couple of weeks).

However, I've noticed this happens with most dyes, and three days later with sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, it's definitely gone down to a nice, warm medium brown. There are some red tones, but at least it's not orange, or, heaven forbid, BLUE. (Blue dyes look so unnatural, and I abhor Frieda for having too much blue in it, glad to have found this product!)

Definitely happy about the little conditioner, they give you a tube that actually lasts almost a month if you use sparing amounts every week, probably another reason I've got pretty, shiny curls and happy, smooth ends!

Nothing worse than a bad haircolor experience. I LOVE the regular Garnier Nutrisse medium brown. Very natural and leaves my hair shiny. This foam was great to apply, saturated my hair very easily I was impressed. However; the color is WAY darker than the regular Nutrisse medium brown this is a DARK BROWN. And like the other reviewer stated, my hair is defintely more matte and dried out not shiny like it usually is when I color. I'll go back to the regular Garnier Nutrisse and hope that I can undo the damage I've done...

My goal with this hair color was to change my hair from dark red back to my natural medium brown color. I figured that with a foam, it would be easy, like putting in shampoo. While the ease of use was definite, I have a major bone to pick with this hair dye. My hair and scalp are extremely oily, to the point where I have to sometimes wash it twice a day. This dye COMPLETELY dried out my hair. It was like straw. I had to literally douse my hair in olive oil to get it back to semi-normal condition. The conditioner that comes with the dye doesn't really help with the dryness; I put on half the bottle after I had rinsed out my hair. Because my hair is so oily, I can hardly imagine what this dye would do to dry hair. Don't do it, if you want to keep your hair nice and soft. The original Garnier Nutrisse hair color is a much better option. It may not foam, but trust me. Much better.
