If you LOVE limes and must have it, then, look no further. You will smell as though you squeezed fresh lime juice all over your face with this balm. Although you can use this year 'round, I think this would be enjoyed more in the hot/humid/warm weather. It is a little sticky, but moisturizes well. Just not as well as some of the other balms I've used from Truefitt & Hill. But I would say it is comparable to The Art of Shaving Balms.
Note that the lime smell contained in this bottle is of the sweeter kind. It doesn't have a warm scent but smells more like limes with a little candy sweetness.
The package says you can use this as a moisturizing night cream. It works great that way for your shaving area. I would argue that you can also use this as a face moisturizer too, that's how thick it is. It comes in a very heavy thick glass container. Pouring it out of the glass is similar to getting ketchup out of a glass bottle, so that speaks to it's overall consistency and quality.

I got this as a gift for my husband, and he absolutely loves it. I got it for him nearly a year ago, and he still uses it often when he shaves. It smells very nice--it smells strongly of limes, but in a nice way (more like key lime pie than household cleaner). I would consider getting the same product in a different scent. I would also highly suggest this as a gift for any man who is into shaving.

Feels good on your face after you shave and it smells awesome. It smells like fresh lime zest going on but that quiets down pretty quickly and later in the morning you might get a tiny whiff. A lot of people includung me think this is one of the best available.

I purchased my first bottle of Castle Forbes Lime Oil Aftershave Balm in October of 2011, and I am just now replacing it with a new one. Yes, this stuff is a little pricey, but it is well worth the price to me.
This balm comes packaged in a very nice box, and inside you will find the actual bottle. It is a heavy, solid bottle, with a nice cap, and it looks very attractive sitting on your counter or in your medicine cabinet.
The first thing you will probably notice when using it is the delicious lime smell. It smells wonderful, but is not overpowering once on your skin. It is a fresh, light scent that I enjoy all year.
The balm itself is very high quality, and makes my skin feel great after even the closest straight razor or double edge shave. In the past, I used several different "sensitive skin" aftershave balms from all the big names you find in chain drug stores, and non of them work as well as the Castle Forbes. This balm works so much better that I can actually use less than the big brands, and my skin still feels more moisturized and less irritated. While a bottle of the competitors balms would last me a month, maybe two tops, the Castle Forbes has lasted me 9 months as of now, and I still have about a month's worth left in the bottle!
After using this, I have no redness, no irritation, and no razor burn. It leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized, without being greasy. If you apply too much, it can make your face feel "sticky" for a while after, but that just means you applied more than you need. With a product as high quality as this, less is more!
Overall, yes it is expensive, but you can use much less than competitor's offerings, it smells great, it feels great, and most importantly, it works!!

This balm has an amazing smell. I'd describe it as a sugary or zesty pungent lime aroma, like lime Skittles or Sprite. Application after shaving feels great on the skin. It almost tingles slightly. Best of all, it makes your skin feel extremely smooth and moist without being sticky, as others have mentioned. I would recommend this product to a friend.
