I was using Camellia Oil for a few years and was always very pleased with results. It makes my hair very soft and shiny and my skin loves it too. I used to buy it from more expensive brands and this time I decided to give a try to a cheaper alternative. Big mistake!
The oil I received was not 100% Camellia Oil, as was advertised. It had some essential oil mixed with it that smells awful! I applied a few drops to my hands and it smelled very bad. I could not get rid of that stink even after I washed my hands a few times with soap.
It didn't make too much sense to send it back for refund and pay for shipment, so I just dumped it in the garbage. I will not recommend this product to anyone. Total waste of money!

I had read about the positives of camellia oil, and so I found it on amazon. It is a little bit more expensive than other oils, but it is worth what you pay for. The oil is light making the hair non greasy which means that it is penetrating the hair. It makes the hair soft and helps to keep it manageable. You can also use it on the hair as a hot oil treatment and it has the same effect. It has a light floral smell, and a little goes a long way. You will not need to keep adding it daily in order to keep the hair moisturized. Now it is the only oil I use.

Camellia Oil is the recommended oil for all Japanese steel things, chisels, plane blades, saws, and yes swords too. The price from this vendor is more than reasonable, others charge way more and this oil works as well as any of the expensive ones for corrosion protection on fine cutting blades. I don't know about the cosmetic uses, I just oil my saws, plane blades and chisels regularly.
Note: that it is not suitable for long term rust protection in high humidity areas.
Edit: added long term rust storage properties, after a comment caused me to look past the marketing hype, still it was recommended by a tool manufacturer and I had not researched it beyond that, trust no one, research things. That said I have used it for years with no problems and will continue to in the future.

I bought this oil because the price for the volume was a good deal. When I received it you could smell it before the bottle was open. When opened, the stinch hit me in the nose. I did not return it because it works on my hair like the other camellia oil I have bought in the past. I have found that the sent makes me a little self conscious, thinking "can people smell me"? The color is dark yellow so maybe it is not as refined as I am used to.
The leason I learned is you get what you pay for with camellia oil. If you want a more pleasant smelling less yellow oil I suggest the oshima tsubaki brand. Once I finish this pint of oil, I am going back to the oshima brand. BYW, another review said this oil smelled, but I did not realize just how bad. I was supposed to split this bottle with a friend, but they did not want any because of the stench. Everyone may not have the same experience or opinion we have.

Cons: I have a normal skin type and I generally have acne breakouts. I have read in a magazine that this oil will reduce pimple scars and helps to reduce the ance. So I applied on the ance only to find that i have got more and more at places i generally dont get acne.

But this oil works wonders when used for hair. I mean it makes hair manageable and helps remove dandruff. It can be used for any sores near vagina or armpits.
I dont use it on skin now..but it is gr8 for hair or any sores.
