I recently had a sinus infection and bronchitis. After having a bad reaction to the antibiotics my doctor prescribed me I looked up natural cures. I inhaled steam from a pot of water with a few drops of this eucalyptus oil in it 2 to 3 times a day for about 10 mins. It literally starting working instantly. It was the only thing that got me to stop coughing after a week of trying tons of different cough medicines. After only 3 days of doing this I was 100% better. You can also put a drop or two on your pillow to help with coughing fits at night. After seeing how well it worked for me I did more research on it and found that eucalyptus oil is antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti inflammatory and a decongestant.

This is an excellent product, but be forewarned: It has a **very** intense smell as it is derived from Eucalyptus globulus (common name "Blue Gum," a tree native to Tasmania). The properties of oils from the E. globulus are far stronger than oils from the E. citriodora or E. radiata, the varieties most of us are used to. Perhaps this accounts for the differences in smell noticed by other customers. However, E. globulus is a far more potent variety than the others and provides superior medicinal and therapeutic results as well. As NOW Foods Organic Eucalyptus Oil is a food-grade product, I am comfortable using this in cleaning mixtures for food-preparation surfaces in my kitchen. I also add 20-25 drops of it into my laundry instead of bleach, as it kills similar amounts of bacteria/germs and has the added benefit of killing dust mites.

I love eucalyptus oil and have many uses for it. This product, however, has a smell underneath the eucalyptus which makes it most unpleasant. I will either return it or throw it out! I have purchased NOW oils before that were fine, though, so maybe this is just a problem for the eucalyptus scent. Do not buy!

I remember reading the previous review (by WomanoftheWorld) about its unworldly odor but since it was only one review I ignored it. I assumed that they received a bad batch.. a dud... or maybe being a Woman of the World, her standards are much higher than mine, a man of a block. Or worse, that it was written by a lone, disgruntled former employee hoping to tarnish the NOW Food empire that may have not given her a raise she deserved NOW. Now said later, not knowing that would cost them a prize employee, and a scathing Amazon write up!
Even before I opened the bottle, the box foreshadowed the most unpleasant smell and I feared the reviewer might have been correct. But it was also handed to me by someone who is occasionally odorous himself.. so in further denial I entertained the idea that it must have been residue from his smelly, grubby hands...the kind of hands that -if there was a giant wheel that keeps the underworld warm and hellishturns that wheel for eternity only to occasionally break to repaint itself with pig vomit.
Opening it confirmed the smell. It's still lingering. But I won't ask for a refund because of the service done in putting my friends smell in perspective. It's not so bad after all. Thank you NOW foods.

I make my own hair products for my natural hair. I researched the benefits that eucalyptus oil had on the scalp and hair and decided to add it to some of my hair butters and gels. The smell is strong; however, I don't find it offensive. It may depend on how you intend to use it but the smell goes away once my hair dries. I've even been asked what I was wearing because I smelled so good. I feel like my hair an scalp are improving and I will continue to purchase my essential oils from NOW Foods.
