Biofreeze spray gel works almost as well as the original Biofreeze green jelly. The spray gel has the advantages of (1) not being green, so it doesn't stain clothing; and (2) being able to be applied anywhere you can spray, including the area between your shoulder blades.

If hubby is home to Biofreeze my back, I still prefer the original Biofreeze green jelly. It works a little better, lasts a little longer, and doesn't smell as much. The only downside to the jelly is it will leave green marks on light colored clothing if you're not careful. The green washes out in the laundry, but who wants to go around with green smears on a white shirt?

Both the Biofreeze spray gel and the original Biofreeze are way better than the drugstore stuff like Ben-Gay. They work better, last longer, are "cool" rather than hot, and don't smell as bad. The original Biofreeze has almost no smell at all. The spray gel has a stronger scent, but it's still not as noticeable as Ben-Gay.

I was given some Biofreeze spray by my chiropractor and loved it. It's great for those shoulder aches, hurting knees, lower back whatever ails you. I especially prefer the spray because of its ease of use and the ability to spray upside down in order to reach all of those ailing places.

I too love the pain relief from the gel sample I got from my therapist. However, when I looked at the ingredients in the "new formula" spray gel, I discovered I can't use it. I have a horrible reaction to anything with arnica in it. I hope they don't change all of their products, because I just found it and that's an ingredient I have to avoid. That's the problem with herbal blends. One ingredient and it's off my list. So many companies blend so many ingredients that it's hard to find something I can use. Arnica is popular and effective for many people and animals, just not me.

This product is, in a word, amazing.

I got it for pain relief, but I find I use it most often for bug bites. Yeah, bug bites! It is actually the best bug bite relief I have *ever* found.

I live in Texas and I get nailed by mosquitoes and fleas on a regular basis. (They always eat me--never my fiance. Sigh!) Biofreeze not only stops the itching, but it actually shrinks the bug bites so they stop being irritated sooner.

My ever-helpful fiance brought home some Burt's Bees Bug Bite Relief, .25-Ounce Tube (Pack of 4), which looks like a slightly larger Chapstick. I looked at the ingredients and it's full of menthol--same as Biofreeze. Except it doesn't have the same cooling effect as Biofreeze, and it's hard to apply, so it doesn't work nearly as well.

This is marketed as pain relief, but it works so well for bug bites that I'll keep it around forever just for that!

I first stumbled into the world of essential oils back in 1990 when I needed a part-time job and there was an opening for "Weekends Only" at a tiny Aromatherapy store in Lincoln Park, Chicago. If you're as lucky as I am, it will be your Go-To Treatment for 99% of "What Ails You."

I've tried many a company's Tea Tree Oil and have finally settled on THIS brand. Why? The reasons I list work for ME; they may not work for YOU:

1) It's in a CLEAR bottle! I know, I know: having E.O.'s in blue/amber bottles protects them from the light, but so does storing them in a dark place. I like being able to SEE how much is used so I know when to buy more.

2) It does NOT have a calibrated "Rain Drop" apeture in the top, meaning that you can POUR the oil out or use these micro measuring spoons when creating hair or bath products. Norpro 3080 Mini Measuring Spoons, 5 Piece Set

3) PRICE!!!!! Compared to other company's with fancier labels and prettier bottles, this product is several dollars LESS expensive than the other brands, without losing a bit of effectiveness.

4) Availability!!!! Since this product does NOT ship through Amazon Prime, there's no cost savings to me. Both my local Whole Foods and Trader Joe's sell this brand, so I am no more than a 10 minute drive in any direction when I am running low.

Okay, those are the reasons why I buy THIS brand. Now, HOW do I use it and HOW has it helped me?

1) For my body, Tea Tree Oil is Magical!!! Every single thing that you can find online with HOW this oil works, it responds that well in MY body! YOUR results may vary. Since discovering the sheer effectiveness on my system, I keep no less than SIX bottles in our lives: in my purse; in our first aid kits; and in every medicine cabinet. My family has been taught by me that Tea Tree Oil is thee FIRST response to ANYTHING that breaks the skin and it's kept our medical bills down to ZERO. Yes, ZERO!!!, in regards to the common things you go to the doctor for.

2) I have had chronic and debilitating ear infections my entire life. As a child, I've spent weeks in hospital with infections that threatened my life. Countless surgeries on my ears have done NOTHING to stop the infections, which can come on in an hour. Now, as soon as I feel the Tell-Tale tingling in my ear, I grab my bottle of Tea Tree Oil and swipe it down the entire side of my face. I repeat this process every single hour until the tingling stops. Results? NO MORE EAR INFECTIONS AND NO MORE HOSPITALIZATIONS OR DOCTOR VISITS!!!

3) When my family and I have a scratchy throat or have been subjected to anyone with a severe cold or the flu, we place a couple of drops on a cotton pad and then deeply inhale the vapors and hold it in our lungs for the count of five, then exhale and repeat the process. Since doing this, NO ONE in my family has had a cold or the flu in 8 years!!!! NO ONE!

4) We have a Summer Cottage near a lake which means ticks, chiggers and mosquitoe bites. One drop of this oil on ANY of the following solves the itch, the pain and the resulting infections. We've seen ticks actually back out of the skin when a drop of this oil is placed on their backs!

5) Tooth infections! I had four Wisdom Teeth extracted. After it was okay to rinse my mouth, I placed a drop of Tea Tree Oil in warm water and would rinse out my mouth when directed. When I went in for my check up, my dentist was SHOCKED at the healing of my gums and was suspicious as to WHY they had healed so well and so fast! Seriously, Dr.? Shouldn't you have just been HAPPY for me? LOL

6) And for me, directly, the use of Tea Tree Oil in my daily job is a God Send! I'm a Landscape Architect with a staff of 17 men. Every single day, we get injured; it comes with the job. Whether it's a deep penetration of a thorn, a complete scraping of skin from a tree you're climbing, a deep knick when you're sharpening a pruner, or a massive sliver that got jammed into a palm, we have daily injuries. Since we can't stop work when this happens, we normally would just rinse the area off with a hose and continue working. More than half of the time, these injuries would get worse, with either the employee or myself loosing productivity or hours, because we couldn't use that hand or arm.

Now, I've taught every one of my guys to come to me for treatment and they hold out their injury to receive some drops of Tea Tree Oil. At first, they were skeptical; now, some are SO convinced, they've had me buy bottles for their own homes. And for home use, this oil is amazing! I've had deep knife cuts from a knife slipping out of my hands while washing; I've had deep scratches from our dogs and cats when we've tried to corral them for the vet; and 100% of these injuries NEVER get infected nor turn pink or swollen if treated immediately with this oil. Healing time is 3-5 times faster than when left untreated.

We've used this oil for acne, cold sores, tooth aches, ear infections, athlete's foot, insect bites and all manner of skin breaks. For whatever reasons, our DNA works with this oil. That's why I'm giving it such glowing reviews. YOUR results may NOT be the same.

In closing, I'd recommend that you buy the smallest bottle possible, to keep it fresh and pure. In my home and purse, I buy the .05 ounce size and when it's half full, I buy a replacement bottle and store it in the frig. Remember, NOTHING that you put to the opening is sterile (cotton balls, swabs or your fingers!), so with each touch of the oil, you are contaminating it. So, buying a large 2 ounce bottle just allows the oil to become less and less effective. The one exception for me, is that for work I buy the 2 ounce bottle, simply because we go through one of those bottles at least once a month and it's more cost effective.

For the people who don't think this works I don't think you understand that your skin needs a period of two to four weeks before any treatment will work, you have breakouts that start two weeks before they rise to the surface and you see them, spot treatments also don't work because you are treating the unseen new pimples, if you choose to spot treat then logically just spread what ever treatment you are using to the parts of your face you commonly breakout in. As for the Tea Tree Oil...For my skin and my husbands it has worked better then benzoyl peroxide , and Salicylic acid...For Salicylic acid to be effective it has to have the correct ph balance to exfoliate skin cells and sadly almost all on the market have to high of a ph. I am overly sensitive to benzoyl peroxide so all the irritation that it causes just creates more pimples. Tea Tree oil does work...You must use a concentration of above 5% or you will be aggravating the bacteria, which will only produce more pimples...If you doubt any of the countless hours of research I have done on the topic of acne treatment...do your own research, you have the internet go to some site like cosmetic cop or even read reviews of products on Amazon. Don't give up a treatment until four weeks; you will never see good results until then. Also if you over exfoliate your skin with wash cloths or manual exfoliate like scrubs be warned that can also be causing you more problems. Go to Sephora buy their facial sponges and use those instead of a washcloth, but be sure to boil it or disinfectant regularly or you will once again be creating bacteria instead of killing it.

This is my first time using tea tree oil. I was in desperate need of a product to maintain my acne. I've used countless products and spent loads of money on special gadgets to improve my skin. I began researching after a bad breakout and came across many positive reviews for tea tree oil. Figuring I had nothing to lose I gave it a try and fell in love after first use. It's an incredible toner. Interestingly, it's an oil that strips oil away and leaves pores tight and clean. The smell can be a little strong at first, but I've gotten used to it. It is wise to dilute the oil with a moist cotton pad before applying to the face. Also be careful not to let it seep into your eyes. Frequently I experience some stinging in my eyes for a few minutes after applying. I apply before bed and when I wake up the blemish is well on its way to healing if I have popped it, which I admit to doing. Not good. Not to sound gross, but it also helps blemishes come to a head quickly, bringing that white icky stuff to the surface, but i find it to heal faster that way. Tea tree oil can be drying, so even though I have oily skin, if I apply it in the morning I follow it with jojoba oil mixed with a light oil-free moisturizer. This helps avoid flakiness under makeup. I'll try to explain this without being to gross :)I've had very bad toenail fungus on my big toe, and not so bad on some other toes. After using this for only 2 days so far (twice a day) I am already seeing great improvement. On my big toe it was so bad, that it was growing in kind of layers. I woke up this morning, and 3/4 of my toenail fell off where the fungus was. Its pretty gross, but I could see a lot of fungus under the part of the toenal that fell off. On my other toes, where its not so bad, its already clearing up. I didn't think the results would be this fast! I'm also surprised I didn't see any reviews for this product regarding toe nail fungus. But it is a gross subject. One thing I do agree with other posts, is the design of the bottle needs to be better for dispensing. Anyway this particular brand of Tea Tree Oil, IS working for my toenail fungus, and working fast!

Used it to make home made bug spray! 75 drops citronella, 20 drops of Rose Geranium, 20 drops of tea tree oil, One Tablespoon of white Vinegar. Put ingredients in a 4 ounce spray bottle then top off with Quality water and shake well initially and prior to every use. I live in northern Minnesota and the mosquitos and ticks are real heavy in the summer, this worked extremely well. Citronella repels mosquitos, Rose Geranium repels ticks. Reapply as needed. Now Foods carries a wonderful patchouli oil, do not hesitate to purchase it. It is by far one of the best patchouli oils that I've found. It smells even better if you age it a bit. A quick way to age the oil is to unscrew the cap (leave it on, just unscrew it) and place it somewhere that is cool & dark, like a cupboard, for a month or two.

The reviewer who stated it does not measure up to the real patchouli oil from the 60's obviously knows very little about patchouli. The patchouli Now Foods carries is a pure, undiluted essential oil, thus making it REAL patchouli. The patchouli that was around in the 60's was often times not a pure essential or was mixed with other oils, such as sandalwood. Patchouli has been around for centuries, it wasn't just a 60's thing. I also feel I should point out that the way it smells also has a lot to do with the country it's grown in, the growing conditions, how it's distilled, how it's stored, & the age of the patchouli oil itself.

I use this religiously for deodorant. With a dropper I just drop a few drops on my armpit and rub it in so that it covers the whole area.

It works naturally to kill the bacteria that grows there which is why our armpits ends up stinking so bad if you don't clean them.

And the bonus to this is that while it is working to kill the bacteria it also puts off a strong but wonderfully natural smell.

Trust me you get used to the smell right away and don't even realize how wonderful you smell until people tell you! :)

It also seems to last much longer than conventional deodorants do. Giving you a true 24 hour protection! :) Of course this may vary from person to person.

Upon opening the bottle, I found a somewhat young, but still refreshing, oil that will be fantastic if left to age for a time (Patchouli is one of the few essential oils that gets better as it ages).

The NOW brand is also a good value, as a little Patchouli tends to go a long way. The 4oz bottle should last most people for quite some time.

I have loved and used Patchouli oil as a fragrance for over 30 years since I was a young teen-ager, so my love-affair with Patchouli goes back quite a long time. I have previously always bought my Patchouli oil at a local health-food store, but when I found this 1-ounce bottle on Amazon, for the (very low!) price of $11-something, I had to try it... My local store was offering a bottle that was 1/3 of an ounce for over $17! (different brand) So I opted for the lower-price oil here on Amazon and am SOoo glad I decided to take a chance on it! I think this Patchouli has a far-superior scent to the other brands I have purchased in the past so smooth, rich, full, and "heavy" 1 drop lasts all day (and then some!)

My most recent, favorite way to use Patchouli as a personal fragrance is to add ONE DROP of it to my apple-cider vinegar hair rinse it almost completely cuts the vinegar smell and replaces it with lovely, earthy and mysterious Patchoili. (I say ONE DROP because that truly is all you need! It does a great job, and I think more would be overwhelming.) I use 1 Tbsp. baking soda mixed with 1 cup water to wash my hair does a much better job than shampoo, without stripping my hair of it's natural oils. Then I use 1 Tbsp. apple-cider vinegar mixed with 1 cup water and one drop of patchouli added, as a rinse/softener/detangler (works AWESOME!). Before I started adding the patchouli to the vinegar, I would occasionally catch a whiff of vinegar smell from my hair during the day, but no more! Now I catch a hint of beautiful patchouli smell instead! I also love to mix the Patchouli with equal amount of Frankincense really lovely! (My husband has never liked patchouli, and jokingly calls it "jet fuel" but says he likes it better when mixed with Frankincense)

I did put the contents into a new bottle a small, dark-brown glass one with a nice glass dropper, as i don't care much for the bottles they come in I think it's much easier to control the drops with a good glass dropper.

I will definitely be buying this brand of Patchouli from now on great deal and great oil!

Tried two others but this one works. Don't know if the reported cardio health impact is there but I had a mild skin condition that doctors just gave me hydrocortisone for claiming it was an allergic reaction and all they could do. I have had this condition for years very minor but annoying itch around the ears with some flaking where they connect to the head. When I tried this brand of krill oil, within a month these areas had completely healed up and no itching. This was not a pyschological effect since I had not thought that it was related to the krill oil until I later ran out of this brand and bought another brand one month later it was back. Unfortunately there are no standards for vitamins/supplements but in this case I am listening to my body the fact that this skin irritation went away means it has some beneficial effects and thus it is the only one I buy now. Recommended this to a friend with psoriasis and his skin problems went away in a few months of taking this. It seems to have some active ingrediant that helps immune/allergic type issues.

Only negative is that it is not readily available in stores near where I live and it is more expensive that other brands, but it appears with Krill oil you get what you pay for.

I started taking Fish Oil one year ago (the HUGE pill form) to see if I would notice any health benefits. I am a healthy 28 year old male. It was only when I ran out that I realized that a "crackle" in my left ear I had experienced for years around loud noises had been cured... and returned weeks after running out. I was sold. I figured if there's just one drastic noticable benefit, there are likely many benefits behind the scenes.

So I did my research and concluded that Source Naturals makes quality Krill Oil (Krill is superior to Fish as it absorps easier, so less is required), and charges accordingly. I bought the bottle of 120 Source Naturals ArcticPure Krill Oil 500mg, 120 Softgels. Within a few weeks, my left ear was no longer crackling or popping unless I'm around something dangerously loud.

The bottle and pills do have a slightly fishy smell, but taste completely neutral. I never experienced any burps or anything unpleasant.

Now that the bottle is about to run dry, I'm back on Amazon to research the best Krill bang for my buck. I found that the Source Naturals ArticPure I have been using also contain Fish Oil, along with Krill. The label lists this in the Other Ingredients section, which I hadn't noticed (Amazon now includes this in the description). Fish Oil Omega-3's do not absorb as readily, and essentially are not as potent. This is why you pay a premium for Krill in the first place!

Since this is not specifically labeled Neptune Krill Oil, my bet is the krill oil here has less EPA and DHA per serving. So Source Naturals added cheaper Fish Oil for marketing, to boost these numbers, which is HIGHLY deceiving and unethical and borders on false advertising. When this is the case, it becomes impossible to determine how much quality krill EPA and DHA your body will be absorbing. Are those numbers 80% from the krill? 10%? Who knows.

This product worked, and I didn't spend my days burping up shrimp byproducts, so I consider it effective. But I also feel deceived. The COMPANY NAME includes "Pure", so it is easy to read the label and assume "Pure Krill Oil". It's fun for everyone when corporations get clever like that. I would rate this 1 star for unethical marketing, but because I still noticed a positive difference, I'm giving it 2.

Either way, I have decided to go with NutriGold NKO Neptune Krill Oil Gold, 1000mg, 60 Softgels (100% Pure NKO Neptune Krill Oil with Astaxanthin) #1 in Omega 3 Krill Oil Supplements for my next purchase. Pure Krill (no fish), made to seemingly very high standards, but cheaper than Source Naturals NKO at the time of purchase. And one 1000mg pill of Krill daily sounds great. I am purchasing Vitamin D and Astaxanthin to explore their benefits as well.

2/25/13 Update: Was going through my reviews and changed this from 3 to 2 stars. If I went to the grocery store and bought "Florida Pure Orange Juice", and later found that the fine print said "50% juice", I'd be pretty mad. Or how long before a company called "Yukon 24-Karat" gets shut down because all they sell is 10-Karat gold? I don't see how this is different.

Also, wanted to add that I have no idea if that Vitamin D has done anything for me, but I HIGHLY recommend the Astaxanthin. I was wondering why all these Krill labels were advertising it, so I looked into it, and have been taking one a day for about a year now. Twice in 2012 I should have been completely sunburned, and this stuff actually helps fight that internally in a big way, among other benefits. One of those times I only stayed burned for the next day (vs 5-7 normally), and the other time I was tan the next day instead, which is not normal for me. Check it out, pretty amazing stuff!

I went from 1000mg of krill to 500mg daily, and haven't noticed any change in its benefits. Currently, along with good multi-vitamins, I take one per day of:

Some folks prefer krill oil over fish oil because they believe it has increased bioavailability and better absorption than fish oil, and contains the additional nutrients, Astaxanthin and Phospholipids. In fact, this is correct. Krill oil has better bioavailability and absorption than fish oil and contains Astaxanthin and Phospholipids, neither of which are contained in fish oil. However, from the perspective of potency, krill oil contains less omega-3 fatty acids per gel cap than a high grade fish oil gel cap such as Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Gold Fish Oil. So, in order to obtain the same omega-3 benefits from krill oil that you do from a high grade fish oil, you need to take more krill oil gel caps, despite the fact that krill oil is more bioavailable and better absorbed than fish oil. ASTAXANTHIN: Astaxanthin is a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. It is a red-pink substance found in various seafoods such as salmon, trout, krill, lobster and cooked shrimp. It is responsible for the red color of salmon meat, cooked shellfish and flamingo feathers. It is present in krill oil but not in fish oil.

The presence of astaxanthin in krill oil, combined with other naturally occurring antioxidants in the oil (Vitamins E and A), provides protection against oxidation of the oil, making it stable for a long time. Antioxidants are usually added in fish oil to prevent the oil from oxidizing as they do not have any on their own.

PHOSPHOLIPIDS: Phospholipids facilitate the absorption of omega-3 into your system. It, too, is present in krill oil but not in fish oil. In krill oil, the omega-3 fatty acids are attached to phospholipids whereas the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil are attached to triglycerides. The phospholipids contribute to better absorption and utilization of the EPA & DHA by the cells, making krill oil more bio-effective than fish oil.

Source Naturals Arctic Pure Krill Oil costs less per gel cap than Nutrigold Triple Strength Fish Oil Omega-3 Gold ($.15 vs $.20).

POTENTIAL ENCAPSULATION PROBLEM: Krill oil can be difficult to process and encapsulate, resulting in an unpleasant odor. At one time, Nutrigold and Viva Labs experienced some encapsulation problems with their krill oil products, but these problems have, for the most part, been addressed and eliminated. Also, Viva Labs has reduced the caplique size. However, the company claims that the reduction of the size of the capsule did not affect the amount of product in each caplique.

DISTINCTION BETWEEN SOURCE NATURALS NKO NEPTUNE KRILL OIL AND SOURCE NATURALS ARCTIC PURE KRILL OIL: These two products are the same in terms of omega-3 content, cholesterol, Phospholipids content, Astaxanthin content, and price per gel cap. Neither contains GMOs. However, Source Naturals Arctic Pure Krill Oil contains soy and Source Naturals NKO Neptune Krill Oil does not contain soy. The ingredients are also different. Source Naturals Arctic Pure Krill Oil contains shellfish (krill), medium chain triglycerides, gelatin, glycerin, purified water, natural lemon oil, and d-alpha tocopherol, whereas Source Naturals NKO Neptune Krill Oil contains shellfish (krill), gelatin, glycerin, purified water, and natural lemon oil.

OPINION: Source Naturals Arctic Pure Krill Oil contains far less EPA and DHA than Nutrigold Triple Strength Fish Oil Omega-3 Gold Fish Oil. I would not recommend Source Naturals Arctic Pure Krill Oil, or any other krill oil product for that matter, as a substitute for omega-3 fish oil, regardless of the fact that they contain Phospholipids and Astaxanthin, UNLESS THEY ARE TAKEN IN GREATER QUANTITIES, RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANTLY GREATER COST.

Furthermore, the amount of Astaxanthin present in krill oil is extremely small, as you need 4-12 mgs of Astaxanthin daily for it to be really beneficial. Some krill oil brands, like Schiff and Jarrow, contain abysmally small amounts of Astaxanthin, measured in micrograms (not milligrams), which, I believe, is caused by the fact that the Astaxanthin has been processed out of the product or has dissipated over time after a period of shelf life.

RECOMMENDATION: There are a few options, in my view:

1. If you're looking for a product that is very rich in omega-3 fatty acids, Nutrigold Triple Strength Fish Oil Omega-3 Gold Fish Oil would be my choice, since you want to take at least 1000 mgs of omega-3 fatty acids daily. Of course, you could take four to six Viva Labs Krill Oil, Nutrigold Krill Oil Gold (500 mgs), Schiff Mega Red Extra Strength Omega-3 Krill Oil, or Jarrow Formulas Krill Oil gel caps daily, or two to three Nutrigold Krill Oil Gold (1000 mgs) or Now Foods Neptune Krill Oil (1000 mgs) gel caps daily, to make up the difference in the reduced quantity of omega-3 fatty acids in krill oil (allowing for the increased bio-availability of krill oil over fish oil), but that can become very expensive.

2. If you decide to go with Nutrigold Triple Strength Fish Oil Omega-3 Gold Fish Oil, you don't want to forget about Astaxanthin, which is a wonderful nutrient, and Phospholipids. So, you could take an excellent Astaxanthin supplement such as Nutrex BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin, and, if you wish, eat foods such as egg yolks, liver, peanuts, and raw tuna (sashimi) for Phospholipids.

3. Or, you can do as I do. I take one gel cap of Nutrigold Triple Strength Fish Oil Omega-3 Gold Fish Oil, one gel cap of Nutrigold Krill Oil Gold (1000 mgs), one 12 mg gel cap of Astaxanthin, and eat foods such as egg yolks, liver, peanuts, and raw tuna (sashimi) for Phospholipids. This gives me the best of all worlds.
