I keep my cream in the refrigerator, and it only takes a small amount, which melts on contact with my foot. I have to put thin socks on to keep from rubbing the cream off. I usually use it at bedtime, and the relief is almost instant. But, unless I fall asleep quickly, I may have to reapply it. It smells unpleasant (cloves), but is worth it for the help it gives me. I haven't used the pain rub, but have it close by so if my feet become painful, and the cream doesn't help, I can try it.
