I received The Herbal Concepts Comfort Neck and Shoulder Wrap as a gift. The gift giver knew that I have daily stiffness and pain in my neck and shoulder due to arthritis in my neck. So this gift was not only thoughtful but appropriate.

The wrap is filled with a variety of herbs and seeds some of which are lavender, spearmint, valerian, flax seed and numerous others. The wrap can be used either as a hot wrap or a cold wrap. For warmth, it is placed in the microwave for about 2 minutes. I usually put it in for 2.5 minutes. Of course several factors will come to play as for how long you will leave it in your microwave... power of your microwave, how much heat you desire in the wrap, etc. For me, 2 1/2 minutes does it. If you want a cold wrap, then just place it in the freezer for a while and you'll have cold.

What I enjoy about the Herbal Concepts wrap is how it also extends up the back and side of my neck a few inches. It really does provide comfortable warmth and eases the stiffness in my muscles due to the arthritis. It would work as well for simple muscle soreness too. Heck, it would work even if you don't have arthritis or muscle pain... it just feels and smells good to have that gentle warmth surrounding your neck and shoulders for 30-45 minutes.

For me, it's been fantastic. I like the feeling of warmth it provides, it is relaxing and the subtle herbal smell is very relaxing and pleasant. A big thumbs up for this!

I can think of only one improvement. It would be helpful to have a velcro closure across the front of the wrap to help it remain closed and stay a little closer to the neck.

This is great for putting on tense shoulders to relax them. You can sit and relax or walk around. The heat feels marvelous and the little bit of added weight reminds me to untense my shoulders. I love this!

This thing really is amazing! I was in a car accident a few years ago, and despite chiropractic treatments, massage and physical therapy I still have pain and tension in my neck and shoulders. My grandmother had this herbal concepts neck and shoulder wrap in olive. She told me how great it was and how good it smelled. I looked into purchasing one but I thought it couldn't be worth $20+! So the next time I saw her she let me borrow it, and to make this story end, I (nor my husband!) wanted to give it back. Reluctantly, I did... but then I jumped right on Amazon and bought it! It smells wonderful, has a great moist heat, contours and covers your neck and shoulders and it really does makes you feel better. Just to add, the olive color is beautiful!

I have the typical desk-sitter's (certainly stress-related) neck/shoulder tension syndrome that sometimes flares into acute crisis. After years of trying to jury-rig ice packs to sling across, around, or otherwise cover all or part of the problem area, this product came as a revelation: it is perfectly molded to cover precisely the problem areas; no more and no less.

To date, I have used it cold only. Although it does not descend to the temperature of ice or a gel pack, it delivers soothing coolness. As others have noted, it has a very pleasant, lavender-dominated scent.

Others also have mentioned its weight. Although it is heavy, I did not find the weight during use to be disagreeable in the least.

Pros:

Perfect shaped to cover problem neck and shoulder areas

Stays put without strapping

Pleasant, soothing scent

Can use cold or hot

Cons:

Bulky: it occupies storage space and volume in freezer if cooling

For my money, the pros outstrip the cons big time!

The model wearing this item in the photo must be 80 pounds and 4'1" tall as it shows it covering her shoulders, neck and completely enveloping her in luxurious, herb induced nirvana!

The reality is that when it arrived and I tried it on, it reached barely half-way around my neck and didn't even reach my shoulders...I stand 6 feet and am muscular, but my much smaller wife didn't fare much better...

We loved the warmth, aroma and deep tissue heat this provided, but be prepared to secure it to you somehow unless you are an oompa loompa...we're currently experimenting with 10" toggle bolts...can the manufacturer PLEASE make an XXXXXXXXXL version so that this will fit normal people?
