I read about rose geranium being an alternative to deet and other chemicals used for bug repellent. Well, this is great. It smells nice and it keeps the bugs away. I put a few drops on my dogs collar every week and haven't seen a tick or flea.

I've been all over the internet searching for and buying essential oils. This product is definitely one of the best. It's a good quality oil with just the right balance between the floral rose and the more earthy geranium. This is a wonderful scent for the bedroom, and it's even better than my own recipe. The packaging is pretty too. Many times all you get is a plain brown bottle with a poorly homemade label. I am impressed. The shipping speed was fast too. My cat had a few fleas (from her outings) and I didn't want to get a flea collar with chemicals in it. So I did a little research on-line and low and behold, I heard that Rose Geranium oil on a nylon collar (a few drops once a week on the back top of collar) would solve the problem. It sure did! It took three weeks, but no more fleas and no more scratching!

Why I Bought This

I often work outdoors on my wooded property, where I have a huge tick problem. A friend said rose geranium oil worked wonders for both his family and his dog. I did a little research and decided to try it for myself.

Positives

Excellent smell. Has greatly reduced the number of ticks I find on myself. My wife says that is also keeps away biting flies.

Negatives?

It does not completely keep away ticks. But then again, neither does anything else in my experience. And from what I can tell, rose geranium oil does not have any side effects (so long as it is not used to excess, at which point, from what I understand, it can tax the kidneys or liver).

Final Thoughts

I am very satisfied and recommend this product. Finding 1 or 2 ticks on me instead of 5+ is excellent. I may use this on my dog's collar eventually. For those thinking of using it on their cats, be aware that some people say that cats' kidneys cannot process essential oils, and thus essential oils can eventually become toxic to cats.
