As a frequent visitor to the southern most parts of Mexico I have searched for years for a repellant to the tabano fly. There is no commercial product that even claims to repel...they are that tough to fight. The bite is like a mosquito bite times 100. Using natures kiss pennyroyal oil I was never bitten. Yet two times without it, I was, so I know they were in the area.
Also great diluted and sprayed on outdoor loungers and daybeds. The tabano is not a fan....but I am!

I had fleas after taking in a stray cat. I was bitten so badly that I ended up scratching in my sleep and tearing through my leg. After trying to find an easy remedy (and failing) and really not wanting to do a flea bomb since I'm renting, I googled ways to get rid of fleas and pennyroyal popped up.I ordered it and dabbed very small amounts onto tissues and put one in each window in the apartment. I was sitting on the floor, and kept one tissue near me and the biting stopped completely. About a week or so later, and I haven't felt a flea since!
The smell is really intense it's in the mint family, I believe. But if you dilute it down, it's a perfect addition to the home! (Just beware of skin-to-skin contact and letting pets get a hold if it.)
Anyway, I was so pleased with this product and the fact that I'm able to sit in my home and not be attacked is really so pleasant! I would highly recommend this to anyone with fleas, or anyone who needs a little mint-smell to brighten their home!
