I finally decided to go sulfate-free, and I researched many products before finding this one. I chose this one because of the price and the ingredients. Unlike many others that falsely claim to be sulfate-free (they're usually free of SLS but throw in milder ones), this one actually was. And the ingredients seemed to be pretty safe and natural, even. (Such as Rosemary/Chamomile/Lemon Balm/Nettles/Olive/Marigold/Sage/Lavendar Extracts) In fact, the only ingredient that I would have any issue with is Cocamidopropyl Betaine which is a surfectant, meaning it's a cleansing and foam boosting agent. It's very popular in commercial hair and bath products and known to be "safe", but there's also somewhat of a controversy about it being a human and environmental toxin. But I digress! The CB is actually the only form of sudsing that this product gives, which really isn't much. As you may already know, the bubbles are pretty much a myth they're not all that cleans your hair, though it might feel like you need it. I expected this out of a sulfate-free shampoo, but it's definitely something to get used to. (I find that diluting the shampoo with a little water helps work it through my hair.) The whole transition has been tough, actually. My scalp is naturally oily, yet my ends are typically dry. So switching from sulfate loaded to sulfate free meant my scalp was still trying to overcompensate for the natural oils that used to be depleted. You have to give it time! Don't automatically fault the product, because the transitioning period can be a couple weeks to a month or two. Anyway, this product made my hair soft and shiny, though I didn't see much of a difference in volume. It also smells very refreshing! (When I got the bottle, I thought it smelled too strong, but I enjoy it now.) I rated this product four instead of five stars, because I wouldn't say it's my "holy grail" shampoo. Great, but not perfect! Either way, I would buy it again, as well as recommend it to others.

After having a less than stellar experience with another brand of natural shampoo, I was hesitant to try another one without SLS. I have fine, straight hair and I've had a few shampoos leave it flat and lifeless. This shampoo is totally different. It lathers adequately and, more importantly, it actually gives my hair some body. I've also noticed that my hair seems to stay "clean looking" longer. In the past I would usually start getting the stringy, greasy look within 20ish hours but I have actually noticed that my hair seems to be fresh longer. Overall I'm very pleased.
