I was nervous to order this due to the other reviews on Amazon stating that the supplements smelled rancid. I took a chance and I'm so glad I did! It arrived in perfect condition with no odor. Whatever problem they had with the earlier batches must have been fixed... What a relief because I am a vegetarian and don't have many options!

The last two shipments I've received of this product have been rancid. I sent the first batch back for a refund, and then tried to take the supplements from the second shipment even though they'd gone bad, before just giving up on it. I don't think rancidity had been a problem in the past, but I don't think I'm ordering this again.

This is a good product and is effective but some jars tend to smell rancid. It's very sad because this is a cold pressed product and it's vegetarian so it works in all other respects.

I bought 2 bottles of these and when I opened the first bottle, I could smell that they had gone rancid. I called Amazon and they were kind enough to send another and did not require that I send the bad one back. But this one soon went bad as well. The product must not be stored appropriately or maybe transported in a hot truck.

I researched alternative treatments to several skin conditions, namely seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp, rosacea and keratosis pilaris on the body. I was opposed to using oral antibiotics as a long-term treatment so I used several topical medications prescribed by a dermatologist. They worked very well, but they had drawbacks.

First, the regimens for treating all of these conditions is time consuming. A shampoo that needs to be left in for 10 minutes, several times a week. Washing skin and with a special OTC cleanser, followed by applying CeraVE SA lotion (a salicylic acid product), waiting then applying a prescription exfoliator. Cleansing the face twice a day with OTC product, applying prescription cream, then sunblock, THEN makeup. Like I said, all of this worked very well, but takes quite a bit of time. Mind you, each product applied to an area (skin, body) had to dry first before applying the next product.

The second and most serious concern I had with using topical medications was transferring the products onto my child. Since they are left on the skin, there is no way to avoid getting residue onto a child you carry, hold hands with and cuddle all day.

I realize that there is no wonder drug or wonder plant to cure every health condition. After researching extensively I felt that trying a product with GLA (gamma linoleic acid), an essential fatty acid was worth the effort. It is not a quick fix. I took it twice a day for five weeks before seeing any improvement. By seven weeks, I felt there was major improvement almost disappearanceof the seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp. For my face, I saw a no reduction in the of redness from rosacea, but I did notice less dry skin and less-frequent episodes of redness.

For the keratosis pilaris on the body, the only result I noticed was less-dry skin. It was no longer tight and flaking.

My new regimen is a sort of hybrid of the first recommended by the dermatologist and the use of black currant oil. I still use the recommended OTC cleansers, and of course sunscreen, and I use the topical prescption medication for my face, but I only use the topical products that are left on the body at night before going to bed, so I can wash them off in the morning before any hugging, hand holding and snuggling.

All other formulations of black currant oil I have found have animal gelatin capsules, often of what they call 'porcine' or 'porcine-origin' gelatin: that's pork. I picked this specific black currant oil because I do not eat animal gelatin.
