Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program There is a heck of a lot I like about this product & a few that I don't. I'll start with what I don't like.
Not always but often enough I get "fish burps" after taking 1 capsule right before my meal. I don't know about you, but I hate fish burps. As a note the Suggested use is to "take 3 softgels daily immediately before a large meal. For best results, take 1 softgel right before lunch & 2 right before dinner." Also I selected the FOCUS formula. I have not noticed any improvement in my brain activity ha ha ha. Seriously, I feel like my brain is the same as ever. It says it is supposed to holistically (I am a BIG fan of holistic medicine so this is right up my alley) "Promote focus, a positive mood, & address daily stress." Nice try, but I don't think it's working! It could have a lot more Organic ingredients. It contains natural mixed tocopherols which is VitE which is likely to be genetically modified. It says on the box they are part of the Non GMO Project. Or to be more specific Non GMO Verified, but I can't help but my doubts about the quality of the VitE.
On to the good stuff.
It is made with extra virgin WILD Alaskan Salmon oil! Yahoo! Our bodies understand how to digest & process whole foods. It contains 17 Omegas! (3,5,6,7,8 & 9's). It contains a happy little blend of herbs such as Lemon Balm, Sage & Holy Basil. As mentioned, they are part of the NON GMO Project. Wild Alaskan Salmon is expensive & if you can't eat it at least 3 times a week, taking this supplement faithfully should provide you with the equivalent. The softgels are very very dark brown, they are in a dark brown glass bottle (no plastic). So the odds are pretty good that they aren't loosing their potency like they would in white plastic bottles in clear softgels.
Bottom line:
Worth taking if you feel you need to supplement your diet. Just don't expect any more alertness, calm, or mood improvement. If you do experience these things (after all we are all different) then that's great!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Last year, my doctor recommended I start taking a fish oil supplement. I bought a the cheapest one I could find and only took it a few times due to the horrible "fish burps" that resulted.
When I saw that Amazon was offering a "higher class" supplement, I decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately, I can't speak to the effectiveness of New Chapter Wholemega Focus because I didn't take it long enough to find out. Even though I followed the directions when taking the supplement (take before a large meal), I still experienced the "fish burps." Another reviewer recommended freezing the capsules to minimize the after effects, so I tried that, but it made no difference. After a week of taking this supplement, I gave up--whatever benefits it may have provided weren't worth the unpleasant aftertaste.
I do know that New Chapter is a reputable brand, so if you're not susceptible to "fish burps," you might want to give this product a chance.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This supplement is a bit different from the average omega-3 pill. It's more of a whole food that contains the entire omega fatty acid complex. That means that it is lower potency in omega-3's than most. Yet, in many cases, whole food supplements that have lower doses of single substances prove more effective than the single supplements in isolation. I couldn't find any research stating whether that was the case with omega-3s. Though that isn't a single substance but a complex of related fatty acids. A recent Stanford paper has shown that fish oil sources of omega-3s have a better result in fighting inflammation than do vegetable based sources.
This is a bit rambling but my feelings are mixed. For a given dose the Wholemaga Focus supplements are expensive. But, they are whole foods, which generally work better. After the sample bottle was gone, I did order another.
As to burping the fish oils up later. That's pretty common with any fish oils. At least salmon is more pleasant than cod. I do find that when I take digestive enzymes around the same time as the supplements I don't burp. Source Naturals Daily Essential Enzymes, 500mg, 240 Vcaps.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've been taking these for a couple weeks now, and I can't say I have noticed any significant effects--or the "fish-burp" other reviewers have mentioned.
Maybe it's just because I haven't taken soft gels for a while, but the size of these was a bit daunting, at first. As others have mentioned, the bottle suggests taking three a day--one at lunch and two at dinner, or just three at dinner. I found myself taking the three at dinner, since I am usually not home for lunch. I can't say I find taking three at once to be the most convenient supplement dosage, as the few other supplements I've taken required only one a day. Cost-wise, having a 20-day supply of capsules, with the cost of these, can really add up with continued use.
Although I can't say for sure that these gels are the cause, I have woken up on a few of my earlier days since taking these and felt a bit more awake than before. But then again, this could just be getting used to the routine of waking up early. I will continue to take these until they run out to see if I experience any continued effects.

You can consume them through fish, nut oils, and certain plants. With such researched benefits as reduced inflammation, healthy heart & brain, reduced fatigue, improved memory, and fewer mood problems, it is easy to see why taking an Omega supplement is appealing.
I decided to give these a try because I have been interested to see if I would have noticeable benefits from taking an Omega supplement. It is difficult to measure benefits of these types of products, in my opinion, because often the road to better health is usually a slow, gradual incline, and takes a lot of patience to see results. Therefore, I do not feel that 20 days worth of supplement is sufficient to see marked results.
I will, however mention what I have experienced in the 20 days of taking WholeMega Focus.
I do struggle with fatigue often, but I chalk this up to the nights of less than 7 hours of sleep I often get. I did not see any marked improvement in this area while taking WholeMega Focus. I also did not see any significant improvement during the times of tiredness that I experience during the day, despite the product's claim of improved alertness with the extra added herbal blend. Truthfully, I just need to go to bed earlier, no herbs or vitamins can make up for my lack of sleep.
I take a boot camp exercise class 3 days a week, which leaves different parts of my body sore depending on what we worked in class that day. I did feel a difference in my body's ability to recover from the inflamed sore muscles.
One of the researched benefits of Omega-3's is reduced menstrual pain. Since this is a big issue for me, I was very interested to see if I had any relief during my cycle. I did not notice a difference, which was disappointing. However, I wonder if this is another benefit that is a gradual change rather than an immediate one?
Finally, as mentioned by other reviewers, I had the salmon-y tasting burps, and although it was not terrible, it was a little strange.
I am going to continue taking an Omega-3 supplement to see if I really will have a gradual improvement given more time, but probably not the WholeMega. Cost-wise it seems a bit pricey to me. The added herbal blend didn't seem to help me, and I don't want to be putting things in my body that aren't helping, therefore it doesn't seem worth it to pay extra for that.
