As I'm both vegan and concerned about over-fishing, I have given up using fish oil supplements. I have no expertise in this subject but algae oil seems to provide a good partial alternative, although I was advised to also take flax-seed (I use ground) as it cannot fully substitute for the nutrients in fish-oil. I have difficulty with tablets and large capsules, but these 'softgels' are medium sized and no problem to swallow.
