UPDATED AUGUST 2011
I bought my first jar of this cream in the winter & I loved it. It was a light, non-greasy moisturizer which was great for my oily skin. It seemed heavy when applied, but after it absorbed it left my skin with a nice matte finish, like a powder & moisturizer in one. I had to slather a lot on in winter, but since the formula was so gentle, the jar was big (4oz), & the price was affordable it wasn't a problem. The ingredients are vegan (came out with a 1-LOW risk score on the cosmetic safety database) and it's cruelty-free, so I thought I had found my face cream. I wrote a 5-star review & recommended it to others. Near the end of spring I bought my second jar & it started to develop a consistency issue about a third of the way through. The texture was more thick & lumpy and I had to stir it to get it smooth. I blamed this on the heat, so I stopped storing it in the bathroom which helped a little, but didn't totally eliminate the problem. I still had to stir it up frequently to get it smooth, but it was still moisturizing fine, just a little more tedious to apply. A slightly annoying problem, but not enough to keep me from buying the cream again. However, I was shocked when I applied my third jar (bought in July) & within 5 minutes my face was bright red. The previously gentle formula was completely harsh & burning! I contacted customer service & was told that yes they did have a quality problem with the product and would send me a replacement. The problem was related to the preservative level (Sodium Benzoate). Customer service was very friendly and my replacement & free samples were sent quickly. Unfortunately the replacement jar was not as wonderful as I hoped it would be. It didn't cause a severe reaction, which is good, but the formula was still slightly stringent & not moisturizing at all. This had previously been a light moisturizer, but now it dried out my face. I had to stop using it, because it was ineffective and not nearly as gentle as it had been.
Overall, I got really fed up with this cream! I understand that they are trying to get the formula right for all seasons, but it would be better if they removed it from the market temporarily until they do rather than sell sub-par versions along the way. Especially ones that cause serious, harsh reactions. The company obviously does not perform quality checks, and apparently for D.E. no animal testing means no testing whatsoever. Customer service was top-notch, but they can only do so much. The production people need to get it together. Although this situation has given me doubts, I probably won't reject the company entirely (the mouthwash is pretty good Desert Essence Natural Refreshing Tea Tree Oil Mouthwash -16 fl oz). If you do have problems, the customer service department is very easy to deal with, and nowadays that's a rarity. But as for the Daily Essential cream, I won't buy again unless I learn that they've revamped the formula. Make it as gentle as it was in winter, without spoiling in summer.

I have tried two Desert Essence face products and have enjoyed using them. Both the 'facial moisturizer' and the 'age reversal eye cream' are non greasy, quickly absorbed and have a very light scent that is not bothersome. I am going to try more Desert Essence products and pass them on to my family.

I'm a fan of Desert Essence products. I have very sensitive skin and I find that D.E. products cause no reaction at all. I use their Thoroughly Clean face wash every day.
I can't stand moisturizers. I use them when I have to, but they make me shudder when they are really greasy. This moisturizer is the perfect companion for the face wash. It goes on very light and doesn't leave that awful oily residue. You feel it absorbed into the skin, and not sitting on top of it.
If you have skin that is happiest when left alone, when not hit with chemicals in cleansers and creams, give Desert Essence a try.

Another high expectations, and high disappointment. Yes, that`s great cream for 4 dollars, and if you have an oily skin, because it doesn`t really moisturize. I have a combination skin, but after washing it gets tight. This cream sinks after a while in the skin, but I have the same feeling of dry skin later. It has no glide.
Now I use it for the body, after adding few drops or aromatherapy oils. I won`t purchase again.

I don't know if there was something wrong with the one I bought but it turned my face red and burned like heck on my arms and legs where ever I had a small scratch. I took it back.
