I've been using this for a while. First, it's a great way to get the fish oils that they say we should eat a couple of times a week (apparently to reduced the risk of certain cardio-vascular diseases). I am not able to comment about that, but I can say my skin looks better and less dry when I eat this regularly. Secondly, it doesn't taste like fish at all. In fact, I preferred the unflavored until Barleans stopped making the unflavored. However, the Orange and the Lemon are good too. I use them on salads, instead of normal oil, where I do not mind a lemon or orange flavor. I also add it to food after being cooked (fish oil cannot be used for cooking because it changes the properties of the oil). The down side is that it's relatively expensive and must be used quickly (several weeks?) after opening. However, I do not like taking capsules and the liquid is much easier, so this product is right for me.

I have been taking about 2 tsp. of this ultra-pure, high-potency fish oil a day for about 18 months now. My diet had been very deficient in long-chain Omega 3's for 40+ years, and this was likely responsible for my struggle with depression, anxiety and ADHD. I was hoping Fresh Catch would enable me to wean off Wellbutrin XL, which I depended upon to keep my mood stable and brain focused. I am happy to report that it worked and it tastes fine to me!

Since I had not changed my diet (a "fair" virtually-vegan diet with a fresh green juice or smoothie several times a week) during this time period and had all but let exercise go, I think this supplement was solely responsible. With my doctor's permission, I began weaning off my med a few months after I began taking Fresh Catch. After about 6 months, I no longer needed it. That was about a year ago, and I have had no mental health or any health problems since that time.

A tsp of Fresh Catch has 4.5 gr of fat but provides at least 850 mg of EPA and 550 mg of DHA plus another 340 mg of other Omega 3's. I took it twice a day with my vitamins. It produced great results even though I was caring for an elderly parent who had dementia at the time I weaned off Wellbutrin. This fish oil worked much better for me than it had. Not only did my mood remain stable, my impulse control and focus improved and so did my memory. I now even tolerate gluten better than I did a year ago no more arthritis-like pain when I eat gluten products regularly even though I have cut back to 1 tsp per day. The side effects are all good!

I highly recommend this fish oil or a comparable algae supplement, but be careful to buy from a trusted source. Dr. Barlean has an excellent reputation. He uses an independent lab to confirm the potency and purity of all his products. He also uses a self-sealing, air-tight bottle to limit oxidation that needs refrigeration only after opening. An 8-oz bottle provides 47 servings (1 tsp), which is very inexpensive when considering the potency.

I did a lot of research before deciding on Barlean's fish oil (orange flavor) and we're loving it! It seems to be the best option for the daily levels of DHA/EPA that we should be taking. It doesn't taste fishy at all, we just make it a habit to take a tsp right after dinner. And yes, we keep it in the fridge, which seems to make it easier to take.
